I just listed a squash blossom necklace and was wondering where it shows up in the search so I used the term 'squash blossom necklace' (no quotes) and didn't see my item on the first few pages so I assume it's way down the list. After that I seleced nearest first and it still didn't show up until I typed in two more terms from the title (vintage and silver) then it showed first as I think it should.
Why doesn't it show first without the extra terms? Without the extra terms it shows another seller who is ten miles away as being the nearest, and my item isn't even on the page.

what are grouped listings?
That's where they show a listing, but if you buy from that page, you really have no clue as to what you are going to get - it's kind of like a 'mystery box'.
Or is that the product pages?
Since I only search ending soonest, auctions only or newly listed, BIN only, I rarely see those junk poorly designed pages.

If that is true, that's messed up IMHO.
Yeah, they're just swell. You can't list the unsigned piece as N.A., and they default the search to the N.A. category.
You can report the ones from India until your fingers bleed, you'll just have bloody fingers.

Yeah. That.
Grouped Listings are grouped by the Product Page they're associated with. The search result is a "product", not an item or a listing. They often display this as a search result, and then if you click on it they display it as a "Buy Box" page which features their "Best Pick".
A more lengthy explanation of how this doesn't work can be found here:
