Welcome to the Scrounge Lounge Fall 2019 Edition

Our History: The Scrounge Lounge formed on the old Auction Listings board 16 years ago in 2003.
We appreciate ebay allowing us to transfer to the new Selling Board.
Who are we? Ebay buyers and sellers who love the thrill of the hunt and the thrill of the $ELL.
We find treasures in the usual, and at times, unusual places.
Here in the Lounge we share our finds, talk about sales, share our successes and our mistakes, we ask and answer questions, help identify widgets, and we'd love to hear about all your scrounging adventures!

I took it upon myself to label the thread FALL. Less pressure to start a new one in 30 days 😉 It can carry us to Holiday Season then New Year, Spring Summer. If we gain membership like back in the day we can always go back to monthly (or remember weekly!) It's been a long time.

Catching up:
CHEERS to sales! Whether in spurts or steady slow flow it's always good to know that things are moving 🙂

M*M, I don't have gutters. When we replaced the roof we never put them up. Nothing to clean or clog. The only time I question that decision is when I have to cross the threshold in a heavy rain, which is not that often, and nothing an umbrella can't fix. That said, I don't know if it would prevent ice dams. Also, there is a strip across the front of the house where there is a little gulley where the rain hits the ground. Probably because there has never been anything planted there. it's just dirt.

Sun, this morning I watched the first episode of Bluff City Law, of all the new shows, I think that might be my favorite so far.

Last one... Did anyone else get the email about the change in the way that sales tax will be collected?

Thanks KAY!

I like it. Fall thread. Good idea. I was thinking along the same lines!

Gotcha, Pat.  Travis loves to talk about engines.  He's rebuilt everything in them at one time or another.  He is not a 'bottom line' person like me. He tells long long stories.  He said he'd put new brakes in my car, which should be done now, before YKW hits.  I have new brake lines so that's good but I can tell the brakes are getting soft.

Yes, Sun (Thanks for the reminder, Patd.) I called Menard's and they have ten sets, on sale til next Saturday. I said I'd be in way before then.  60' long, $47.99

Glad your sales have been steady!

Kay I guess that is the reason for having gutters, the rain coming straight off the roof and leaving a gully..  Ice dams can form under shingles too so not having the gutters couldn't prevent that.

Kay, Ice dams can build underneath shingles too so not having gutters isn't going to minimize that but they sure are a PITA when they are full of ice.

Yup, what company in their right minds implements a significant change in their processes in the middle of their busiest season?  Wrong in so many ways.

Happy Fall Yah all

I just found a new site on Facebook = https://fotofuze.com/

It is easy to use and puts a nice white background to your photos for ebay

Kay, I don't know whether you have a basement and if so  whether it is poured or block.

For M*M who has a block basement, it is critical to get the water away from the house.

She already has some problems in the basement with blocks getting pushed in on one side and another problem behind the electric box.

I spent tooo many years in construction and real estate. 😞  Can you tell?

Patd, no basement here. What you said makes complete sense.

Tea, have you tried fotofuze? How were your results?
With Picture Manager I can enhance the background to make the white look whiter. Depending on how dark the photo is to start it can alter the color of the widget. Sometimes just brighter, but sometimes with poor results. I wonder if fotofuze is a better option.

Being that NJ now requires sales tax be collected I've noticed a few things. The thing that freaked me out was that despite making a single payment (widget, shipping and sales tax) the charge was split (in paypal and on my credit card statement). I was about ready to call and dispute these miniscule charges before I finally put 1 + 1 together and realized it was the sales tax. It is sort of a strange way to do it from the buying standpoint.

Now, best I can tell, they will run the full amount as a single charge and after it's deposited into your PP account the sales tax portion will automatically be deducted. Less confusing for the buyer. Seller doesn't have to do anything. All info will be available in seller hub.
Forget the glitches that could make this a less than smooth transition. My question is this: with the sales tax running through my PP account will I now be charged a fee for the money collected?

In retail, the answer was yes, we paid the same percentage fee on all money including sales tax. I haven't seen anyone 'out there' mention it. Either I'm wrong or it hasn't clicked yet.
