Screwed up a listing for an auction ending today - what are my options?

In an attempt to speed up my listing, I started making the main photo and text description of my items and then adding the other picture before I post them.   For the most part, this is working, but I just made a mistake and have pictures of two different items in an auction that is ending today.   A potential bidder just pointed this out to me so I tried to cancel the auction, but eBay won't let me, and it won't even let me put a note to warn bidders.  What are my options in this situation?

During the final 12 hours of an auction, you can't end the listing early (except to sell to the current high bidder), but you can still cancel individual bids.

So one strategy would be to cancel all the bids so the auction ends up with no sale.  If you decide to do this, I recommend that you put the IDs of all of the current bidders on your blocked bidder list so they cannot bid again. Then wait  until the final minutes of the auction and cancel their bids, starting with the lowest bidders. Be ready to cancel any bid(s) that come in during the final minute.

An alternative would be to just let the auction run out and then have a conversation with the winning bidder, making sure that they know the listing includes only one watch, and which one it is, and if they feel misled you can ask them if they'd prefer to cancel the transaction.

You can't cancel an auction with bids if there's less than 12 hours left. You may be able to cancel the bids, but I'm not sure if there is a time limit with this also. Try it with this link, I think you can choose "error in listing" or something like that for the reason. If you're able to cancel all the bids, you can then end the listing. If that doesn't work, I would immediately message the high bidder at the end about the error to see if they still want it.

No, they can't end the listing after canceling the bids, because the auction has less than 12 hours left. There is no time limit on canceling bids.

Okay, thanks for the clarification! I guess I thought based on eBays cancelling chart (above) that you could end the listing with less than 12 hours if there are no bids. (ie. bids cancelled, so therefore no bids on the auction at present). I guess what they mean is if there were never any bids placed at all you can cancel with less than 12 hours to go.
