Guys I need your help and i dont know what to do. So i sold my old dell g3 laptop for $675, it took 2 moths for someone to buy it and i really needed every penny of the laptop for something else. This scammer bought my laptop and everything was going good, the moeny was given to me through paypal, the lapto pgot shipped, and i thought everything was ok. until a few days ago the buyer says that the hard drive that i stated in the listing was not there. i knew somethong must be wrong because i checked everything right before shipping and it was working. i tell him to open up the lapotp and check if it is there at all or if its just a cable popped out, he shows me the cable of the hard drive popping out. i thought this would be easy and i told him to just plug it back in, he then continues to say that a "retainer clip" is missing and that it cant be plugged back in (idk what a retainer clip is if someone can also help me with that). He presses the point that at any moment he czn get ebay involved, so that felt pretty sketchy to me. and of course CABLES DONT JUST POP OUT LIKE THAT. i have reported him but i dont know what to do anymore, i keep trying to delay ebay from getting involved by sending him random questions, but i know he is scaming me and i just dont know what to do. a cable doesnt just come out, i could throw it across the room and the cable wouldnt come out, it had to have been done manually, i need help, i need to know waht to do becuase i only have 2 more days until ebeay gets involved, and they always take the buyers side on arguements.

All you can do is issue a paid return label. Sorry I don't have better news. Never sell an item you can't afford to lose.

You should immediately switch to chanting
Dear Buyer,
Please return the item for a full refund.
Thank you,
Seller.
(Repeat as often as necessary, do NOT entertain further conversation).
Note, it is best to start with the chant upon first communication and not even enter into banter and chatter, but it may be too late in this case, a lesson for the future reference.

Not good news but sadly if ebay gets involved they will likely refund him without the return being completed. In other words he just needs to hit escalate to ebay and his money will be refunded without sending the item back. This is common here which is one reason I don't sell higher ticket items. Be aware also PayPal can freeze the funds from your nominated bank up to 180 days after buyer purchased. You really need to read up on all these policies there are plenty of threads of similar on this board. Best bet is to accept a return through ebay from him so at least he has to send something back. At which point he could still send a box of sand to you if he is a scammer. You'll be lucky if you get the original item back but better to get something back than lose the money and the item. You need to make sure you have funds to cover returns on any items you sell on ebay. Your going to have to accept a return and issue the label in my opinion as he is going to keep pressing you till he gets his money back. It happens to a lot of sellers these days, Sorry for the bad news.

There are a few things you need to do first
1. Never panic
2. Go to your action screen
3. Choose to send a message to the buyer
4. To send you a picture of the item you sent
Ask the customer.
You must do as I said above. But it is very important that you pay attention to this customer as soon as he asks the question. If he asks for money for the picture, you have another option to make a partial refund. Whenever you can, talk to the buyer and try to resolve the issue without being impulsive. If it is not resolved in this case you give a full refund.
I hope you have received a satisfactory answer.
Thank you!

It does not matter what the buyer said, or whether it is true.

I highly recommend thjat you accept the return and issue a shipping label. That way, there is at least a chance that you will get your laptop back.
If eBay steps in, there is a good chance that you will be forced to refund the buyer, and the buyer will be allowed to keep the laptop.
Keep in mind that the buyer could also ship you back a box with a phone book in it, and eBay will still force you to refund.
There is risk of fraud in every eBay transaction, and there is no way to completely prevent it.

You may have sold a laptop to one of hundreds of dishonest people trolling ebay for scam opportunities.
Rule #1 is don't sell expensive electronics on ebay. Your buyer may be telling the truth however. Someone in the chain of possession may have removed the parts that are missing. Ask the buyer if they noticed if there was evidence that the box was opened and taped up again.
Beyond that my biggest concern is that you didn't know how to wipe the hard drive clean before you decided to ship the laptop. Did you reformat the hard drive back to the factory settings before listing?

Hold on @ibrrad27 did any of this happen:
The return request says that the item is not as described
You did not provide a prepaid return shipping label
You did not to accept the return request
Was it one of these?
Yes he says that a cable is missing even though im sure that it was there before shipping
So it is:
The return request says that the item is not as described
In that case, eBay policy states:
When a buyer isn't required to return an item
In some instances, we may not require that an item be returned to the seller. In these situations, we refund the buyer and may seek reimbursement from the seller, for example if:
The return request says that the item is not as described
According to policy, your buyer won't be required to return the item to get a refund.
