Scammer??? Buyer stating item not received.

Here's is the tracking number to a video game I sold:  9400109699937783768209

USPS First-Class mail.  It show delivered yesterday at 1pm.  This morning, the buyer opened a case and said in a few words that he didn't receive the item, even though it shows delivered, and wants his money back.

I told him.  No.  No refund until I get the game back.  Should I just call eBay and have this cases closed?

Thanks.

Yes-- upload the tracking that shows that it was delivered to the case, then call eBay and have them close it in your favor while you're on the phone with them.

Upload the tracking to the case and send the case back to ebay.  Then call ebay - ask for dispute resolution and have them close it for you while you are on the phone.  If they do not, call back until they do.

And if you want to have fun, send the buyer a message through paypal that says that you will contact the post office about how they do not have the package even though the tracking says delivered and that they will start an investigation into the delivery person and their address.  That usually makes them go away.

But I hate to say it, once the INR case closes, look for a not described case to open up on you by the buyer who magically 'found' the item.  Say return for refund and send them a ship label through ebay.

Tracking only shows it was delivered somewhere. I lost two packages earlier this year that showed delivered to me but never arrived

Most scanned deliveries have GPS locations now.  I have had a rash of lost packages this month and in a couple cases GPS showed it was not delivered to the correct box.

So there is nothing that can be done.  Post office will not do a thing about it.  I file lost mail reports every time and never had a one found ever.

The buyer ended up closing the case and stated in the comments, "would not refund for item not received."

He claims he didn't get it, then closes the case.

Sounds like you left yourself wide open for feedback.

@tarpedge

Do you know with 100% certainty that a buyer who closes the case themselves can still leave FB?  BTW, that's a question not a challenge since I don't know the answer.  I would THINK that a buyer closing the case would be essentially the seller "wins" and FB would be blocked.

Anyone know for sure?

Sounds to me like he was just expecting you to roll over and refund.  This is a behavior that is reinforced by scared rabbit sellers.

Before anyone says it... YES, I do know that packages get misdelivered all the time.  I think that as sellers we have the right to question and make sure the buyer is on the up and up.

Yes, it goes like this: When a buyer withdraws its request, no case* was opened, so no case was decided in anyone's favor, hence feedback is not blocked.

*a request must be escalated to a case for a decision

However, if the buyer leaves feedback about not receiving the item, it can be removed by calling eBay because you have tracking showing delivery.
