Scam

Encountered a scam today.

Someone posed as interested in a printer I'm attempting to sell.  He/she texted, asking to communicate via text to ask w/additional questions and to send a payment.  Then proceeded to ask for an Apple gift card for $300.

Although I quickly stopped the text.  The lesson learned is to not communicate outside of Ebay.

Has anyone had these types of encounters?

   I wish more new sellers were as quick and on the ball as you have been. We would then have much fewer angry heartaches posting here that they became a victim of this obvious classic scam.

I got quite a few of those scammers when I was new, I reported them all and Ebay quickly banned their accounts.

We see this things over and over: a lot of folks  fall for the scam is why it is still going on: such can get frustrating when most folks should have easily seen the signs.

To good to be true price:

The you are helping by by ripping me  off for such a price:

Gift cards  or other easily tuned into cash payment systems that are never normal;

Free shipping which is crazy to think that is real;;; and so on.

Yep it can push folks reading and dealing with such to going: how could you fall for such....

I think you can get the idea why at time some are harsh of blatant about such things...

     Where are you trying to sell this printer? I see nothing posted or sold under this ID? This is a common well known scam and there are hundreds of postings on this forum that you can search and read about. There is also an eBay help file that you can read about some of the more common scams. Add this person to your BBL.
