Scam or Post Office Problem - It's a Problem Either Way

I just got a message from a buyer saying "This item was listed as free shipping and I had to go to the post office and pay $3 something for shipping...........what's up with that?"

Tracking says this: Your item was delivered at the front door or porch at 4:14 pm on May 22, 2017 in PLAQUEMINE, LA 70764

If they held the package, shouldn't it show on the tracking?

If they really did charge her it could be one of two things. First it was a 15 ounce first class  package and I've read about some post offices not wanting to honor that. Also, I'm on commercial plus so maybe they just think I underpaid.

So far I've called 5 times. The first time I was hung up on...the next 4 no answer. This particular post office has very low ratings also. Two stars on Google.

I mentioned the tracking and she said that she noticed that too...I offered to refund if she would send a copy of the receipt. Of course the garbage man JUST came.

Who would think of seeking reimbursement for anything without a receipt?

I would have tossed the receipt in the trash before even walking out the PO door. Who would think a seller would not believe you for $3. Some people really should consider another job instead of on line selling. And to think the buyer already got burned having to go to the PO over a seller's mistake and then get accused of being a thief.

Maybe you should consider another place to buy then and not online. You are not entitled to any reimbursement with the attitude that you throw out the receipt and expect the seller to trust a complete stranger.

$3 extra profit in just 30 transactions and the buyer has already pilfered $90.  Over a decade or two of buying on ebay, with 3,000 purchases that would be $9,000.00. Not chump change.

This would be an easy decision for me. The buyer said they paid the extra postage, they say they got a receipt, they took the time to contact me, the seller to ask for rembursement without any proof of their allegation.   You, I being the seller exercised due diligence, you checked tracking and made a call to the post office and still was unable to verify the buyer's allegation.                                                                                                            Response to the buyer:  You provide me with absolute proof and I will promptly reimburse you, otherwise, I am unable to help you.                                                                                                                                                                  In the meantime, OP:  block, block, block.

Coolections, do you feel insulted by providing tracking numbers? Having that proof or lack thereof decides a lot of cases. There is nothing wrong with wanting it or even expecting it. Ebay expects it of their sellers. It doesn't mean they don't trust us...it just makes everyone's life easier. Trust but verify.

So, there is an update. I was contacted by Trinton via email for case details. Apparently he saw this thread during his travels on the boards or someone alerted him. Not sure. They reviewed and the negative feedback was removed. Yay!
