I am not lucky selling computers on eBay... lol.
I recently sold a beautiful iMac that was working great... top specs, 20gb ram and a quad core i7, ssd... the full shabang. I tested the computer before I shipped it out, (it was also clearly on and working when I took the pictures before listing it).
A day after receiving it, the buyer simply messages me, says "hello computer not working", I'm like ok...? I try to help him out but he just says it doesn't turn on and he initiates a return. I accept the return, provide him a shipping label bought from ebay, and 30 min later I get another email saying the return is closed because he filed a chargeback with his payment processor.
My two options are to accept the chargeback and give him a refund (and probably never see my computer again, giving it to him for free?), or dispute it and "provide evidence".
The dispute is "The item doesn't match the description in your listing" and the details are listed as "Damaged". If I accepted the return, why would he file a chargeback? I'm assuming he is trying to score the computer for free.
Anyways, I'm wondering what my best option is... should I contact eBay support or click the dispute chargeback button? My first idea was to dispute it and write as the "evidence" saying that I accepted the return then he immediately filed a chargeback. The last thing I want is for me to lose my computer and the money I got from selling it!
I'm also worried that if he's forced to return it, he will ship back a brick or something with a tracking number stamped on it... any advice? Thanks guys!!!

Many sellers have lost these charge back fights, however, you have one thing going for you that many did not': You accepted the return & issued the label..
That said; you need to collect all your evidence, your explanation, listing info, messages from the buyer & delivery confirmation into ONE document as I believe you're only allowed ONE upload by eBay to fight the CB.
I would also reach out to eBay's Facebook for business (not the phone reps) with an explanation and your evidence via a message there.. The reps there are fairly knowledgeable and can perhaps guide you on what else you need to do to prevail.

They are trying to keep item and get money back.
Computers are a high scammer area.

Since you only get one photo on this type of case:
Return for refund must be added to this charge dispute as well as the tracking number, and description of the item with address shipped to.
All that info should be included in that one photo.
Let us know what happens in this case:
So far way to many just refunded with loss of the item is the way they are going.
Also report the user for return abuse as well to ebay given screen shots of the case that was closed as well as the credit card dispute case.

Thank you for the info!!!!!
What do you exactly mean by return for refund must be added to the charge dispute? Should I add any more info than this?

- Tracking number of item sent to buyer
- Description of the computer and the address/name of Buyer
- Photo of computer working in operational state
- Screenshot of email saying I accepted the return
- Screenshot of email saying the return was closed due to chargeback
Tracking # of the return label, if you can find it. If it's on the email saying you accepted the return, I would still add it in another section of the 'photo'.
Remember, all of this has to be in one file.

Unfortunately, I didn't save the label and since the return is closed, there's no way to see it accessed. However, I did supply the email showing that I accepted the return.
Here is the case document I provided (it couldn't be a pdf or .doc, had to be a JPG so i got creative in paint.)
I removed all the buyer's info to comply with eBay forums TOS. Hopefully this is good enough for his bank to see what the heck he's doing.

Awesome! Glad that you won the dispute.
Thanks for posting about it and updating us on what you did.
It's a good guide for what to do if other sellers have to deal with a similar situation.
