Same category, but different Final Value Fee?

See the two screenshots below:

Two items in the same category, Clothing, Shoes & Accessories category, both sold price >$100, why the difference in Final Value Fee? 12% v. 7%? I have an eBay store.

Final Value Fees are based on the total amount the buyer pays

(not the sale price of the item).

You would have to look at the total the buyer paid for each item.

Maybe one had to pay Sales Tax and the other one didn't.

Some of the Final Value Fees are variable by what the buyer pays.

Thanks. But both item's price is $100 or more... they should be charged the same final value fee percentage right?

Note to other posters: The OPs question is not about the dollar amount of the FVF but the PERCENTAGE of the FVF which is clearly different between the 2 sales.

Exactly what was sold in each sale.?

The second sale seems to be for a pair of sneakers? In which case is there a special promo rate for those as compared to "normal" clothing?

Maybe someone with more information on sneakers can chime in and help?

Well - just as I posted this I noticed the above post which apparently came in while I was typing this. So that answers my question.

Thanks Richard.

Just explain a bit more for whoever may find this helpful:

sneakers right now have a promotion going on:

    • For sneakers selling for $100 or more (including taxes, shipping, handling fees and applicable fees), the new final value fees are 8% for non-store sellers and 7% for Basic and above Store subscribers.
    • Insertion Fees for Sneakers with a starting price over $100 will be waived.
    • Per order fee ($0.30) is waived for sneakers selling for $100 or more.
    • For sneakers under $100, final value fee rates are unchanged. Final value fees are 12.55% for non-Store sellers and 11.7% for Basic and above Store subscribers.

There is not a special Sneaker promotion going on.

For quite a wile in order to attract more sneaker sellers to the site

(especially high end sneakers) eBay was charging 0.00% Final value

fees on sneakers over $100.00.

Back around 01/19/2022 eBay announced the (free ride is over) new

final value fees for sneakers.

Yes - some sub-categories have special fees, and athletic shoes is one of them. I think what shows on your screen shots is just the parent category.

As you noted, the special FVF rate for shoes is not a special promotion; it's part of the basic Fees page. The OP was charged 7% FVF on his sneakers that sold over $100 because he has a Store at the Basic level (or higher).  The image in the above post is for non-stores and Starter stores.

@chenx711   The main point here is that the FVF rate depends not only on the main category for the listing, but sometimes also on the subcategory. This happens in several top-level categories, including not only in Clothing but also in Computers, Music, etc.

Is there any other category that has a promotion going on?

The special FVF rate for authenticated sneakers over $100 is not a promotion. You yourself linked to the "new fees" announcement about the current rates.

Promotions do not show up on the main fees page (see links and images in other post in this thread), they usually have an end date, and they often do not apply to all sellers.  In the case of the 7% rate for sneakers over $100,  that rate is available to all sellers who have a Store subscription at the Basic level or above. If eBay decides to change that rate, they will give advance notice, as they did when increasing the rate from zero to 7%.

This is where I got confused. If both items were sneakers and both were $100+, the FVF should have been the lower amount?

Or was your 12% item not a pair of sneakers?

So much to pick apart here....

First the screenshots of ebay's fees clearly state ATHLETIC SHOES..If you do a search by category you will see the words ATHLETIC SHOES on the right. BUT when you click on that it changes to "women's sneakers"

Technically that is NOT the same as the ebay's fees page shows.

The other thing I wanted to point out is the OP is wrongly using the athletics category for boots and other styles of shoes to avoid fees.
