We have been selling on eBay since 2008, as a shop. Through the years we have experienced regular sales, not veryhigh volume but enough to feel this way of selling was worthwhile. We purchase household goods from wholesalers and always sell new products. Because of competition on eBaywhich has grown over the years, we keep our prices low and our profit margins are also low, but we havefelt it still worthwhile to keep a shop on eBay. Now however things havechanged. Our sales this year have been miserable, sometimes only one item a day, sometimes none. We are wondering what ebay is doing to create this situation. Anyone else out there experiencing the same drought in sales?

This year has very much been a roller coaster, or like playing a game of lights off, lights on. Overall, I'm still pleased but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I hope you hang in there. The lights will come on again. I do believe that.

I am in the same situation, 10 year top rated seller. Last month, after store fees, other fees, shipping (all my items free shipping) and cost of goods, I netted $6.75.
But I am not asking what ebay is doing, I am asking what can I do, to right this ship. I have listed about 20 items in a completely different category, gone thru all listings to make sure they are mobil friendly, cut prices, revised titles, changed over 190 listings from GTC to 30 day. Still have about 80 more that are GTC but I have picked up a second part time job and started this week so haven't been breaking records on revising listings.
November will be my last month with a store if I dont hit my very small goal, and I mean small. I am only asking for 1/3 of the mothly gross that i had last year at this time. If I can't do that, I will close the store and sell everything just to cover costs.
I dont think ebay is to blame, you said yourself, competition. Shipping also hurts all of us, I have seen several increases in my time here.
Best of luck.
