Sales Drop

Has anyone else noticed or experienced a drastic decline in sales this week?  I've been averaging a steady flow of sales for months but for some reason the last three days I have had next to no sales.  Is there an issue with the search or anything else going on that might be causing this decline?

If has been a bit slower than normal but always best to look at 60 day sales totals and not week by week.

Yes, I have - and posted about it on the Buying board, mentioning Auction style listings in the title. I think mudshark and the other person who replied had a few good ideas as to what may be causing it.

I know when Tennis is on in Australia this time of year sales is always slow. Probably people abroad are watching tennis on their TVs rather than looking on eBay.

Same here. Was on my way to best month in a year then...bam...no sales in 5 days. Still listing. Nothing changed on my end other than ending GTC listings to refresh them after letting them relist since GTC went mandatory. Interesting!

I love tennis, just wish they would knock off all the racquet.

As soon as I stop listing my sales stop. Thats the bottom line and the way the Algo is set up. At least for me.

Unfortunately I take care of an older parent with no help and cannot list nonstop. I have not had a day off in 3 years.

Ebay must think I am playing video-games all day.

That is exactly what I have experienced. If you do not constantly list items, your sales will virtually stop. This seems so unfair. I do not pay fees to be obligated to list more for my items to sell.

Things have not seemed "Normal" since around Thanksgiving. Traffic patterns changed for us ever since then, in a way that they never had in the past, and it doesn't seem to have recovered in January as it usually does.

But there's so many bugs and glitches going around lately. Even compared to the last 1-2 years, it seems to have drastically accelerated once 2020 hit.

Speaking as a software developer, it's honestly not possible for us to say if it's algorithm issues or not, as without all the glitches fixed, it's not even possible to tell if the algorithm is working as intended... Algorithms don't calculate properly if the numbers/data they're being fed are inaccurate.

I just hope they finally do something about all these issues! Most of the pain and suffering sellers are facing is likely from being surrounded by broken functionality everywhere we look!

I hope things improve for you (and all of us) soon!

Yes. I’ve been geographically locked to buyers from North Dakota all week. Time to reboot the Cassini servers. Dismal.

I had 1 sale in 7 days.  2 in 9.  Now, I've had 8 since Wed. afternoon.   A natural flow of visibility??  Doubt it.  lol

Seller since 2006. I had a 30% drop in volume from 2018 to 2019, and sales are dropping even lower in 2020. After figuring my time invested this year I'm making about $6 an hour net. All the while shipping costs continue to rise. The only things on the upswing are the headaches involved and the ever increasing demands of ebay.

february was my worst month in years.   this first week in march is the worst week i've ever had!

I know the item specifics for clothing category was "updated"  again recently.  This has resulted in most of  my listings that were previously correctly filled out wth all items specifics correctly chosen now having anywhere from 30-75% of the item specifics either incorrectly filled out or left blank.
