Someone bought my item and minutes later I received messages with offers almost double what the buyer bought it for. What is the procedure here? I feel bad canceling but didn’t think it was worth so much.

The "procedure" is to sell it to the person who won it fair and square and ignore the person messaging you with a high offer. They are most likely trying to scam you.

Unless you had two of those, looks like you decided to cancel and relist.

Why ask what the procedure is when you have already made a choice?

I believe Solidarity amongst Perceived Peers would be One Answer maryl, (or a smoke screen).. However, the New OPs "Moral Dilemma" is not as concerning to me as some of the responses. wow.

Id like to think this would be a "No Brainer" for the vast majority of us.. The Dollar amount shouldn't even be a part of the equation..

Thank's soh.m

I'm assuming you mean my response. I've never canceled for a reason like this nor would I ever.  I never even been put in a situation where it was asked of me, so it's not even something I've ever really thought about except for the one time I heard it discussed on the Scavenger Life Podcast which is why I brought up that example.  They were always giving the advice to never ever cancel even if someone offers you more, but when it did come down to a difference of multiple hundreds of dollars she made a one time exception and ate the negative feedback and oos cancellation defect, and I don't remember her getting any back lash from the large ebay community that follow them.

I think I made it pretty clear he shouldn't ruin his new his account that way,  But knowing that everyone would just come on here and say NOOOOO you're not allowed to cancel!!! I was trying to come in from a more relatable perspective to have the same effect of convincing him not to cancel.

Basically I was saying it's stupid and will hurt your account so don't even consider it at all unless the difference is hundreds of dollars.  I should have looked at his account but I was definitely assuming the difference was only like $50 and that my post would convince him not to cancel.

It's always extremely unprofessional to cancel like this but morally it's not worse than people who are getting an item mailed back to them due to the fault of the buyer, and just keeping the item and not refunding the buyer which I see plenty of people doing on here.  In one thread I felt like I was disagreeing with everyone else by saying it was not right to keep the money AND the item and that the OP should just volunteer a refund minus original shipping even if had been over 30 days.

Everything is a balance and you will see people on here saying somebody should ship something even if they lose Hundreds of dollars on the sale to ship something that is huge, just because they meant to only set it to local pick up but didn't.   I guess I'm not as black-and-white.

You sell to the person who bought it, just like eBay rules require you to.

Messages after a sale are not "offers". They are just messages.

Did they offer to pay with gift cards? It probably is not worth ten times what it sold for on auction. How old are you?

It looks like you already did what everyone told you not to do.

Incredible.

Tagging OP to make sure they find their way back here.

If you agreed to text outside of eBay, you're being set up to receive a fake payment e-mail @Anonymous. Read the responses upthread about this.

Hi!

It is a real animal.  Pocket gophers, commonly referred to simply as gophers, are burrowing rodents of the family Geomyidae.[2] The roughly 41 species[3] are all endemic to North and Central America.[4] They are commonly known for their extensive tunneling activities and their ability to destroy farms and gardensimages.jpg

What does your message mean?  Solidarity among peers? What responses are concerning to you? It SHOULD be a no brainer for the majority of us and, you are right, the dollar amount should not be part of the equation.

I simply noted that the OP has relisted the item at a much higher price with a listing also still at the original price and I asked him why he would bother seeking our suggestions.

Was just looking over "solds" for Washington Capitols jerseys... easy to see that 90 seconds of comping before listing  would have prevented this.

Sometimes it's better just to post what you mean. Trying to be erudite or clever often misses the intended mark.

Perhaps your wording was a little bit too complicated for me.

The OP was asking advice about receiving offers when he had already sold the item.

Pretty sure most of us  understood his question correctly.
