SPECIFICS.

What is going on with these ridiculous need for specifics???   Many items do not need all of them yet it seems if all are not filled the listing is flagged.   Some specifics do not allow you to put in a custom specific and you can only use those provided by eBay, with none of them matching what is correct.   eBay is getting too crazy.   Definitely not for the seller at all.   You can’t even open a no pay dispute anymore.     Won’t be too much longer that I will no longer sell on eBay.   I’ve been selling for almost 20 years and it seems like each update is worse than the previous.

SPECIFICS.

The only item specifics you need concern yourself about are the mandatory ones (i.e., the ones which actually help the buyer find your item) - ignore the rest, particularly if they don't apply.

The UPIs are now handled automatically - you don't need to open one or do anything - if the buyer doesn't pay in the time frame you set, the sale is canceled and the buyer gets a strike.

SPECIFICS.

The new 'required listing' is causing severe problems.  A week ago I auctioned an antique US Civil War book about General Robert E Lee, a prominent figure in a hot topic. The book is attractive and was competitively priced ($30)! Strangely, after 7 days the auction only received 14 views, which I suspect was just me looking at the my own auction. I think this has to do with the new feature of adding the book 'title, author, language' and not showing up in searches, and also maybe to do with ebay hiding some listings and promoting others in searches. So I relisted the book at buy it now https://www.ebay.com/itm/363481554241, with 'title, author, language' added, and in the first day had 30 views, but on second and third days had no additional views. Right now, the ebay search system is wacky, and having to add new 'required data' to listings more work than before though still easy, and the limited search results is annoying (I always prefer 'show all results') but more worrying in the screwed up views/search that all this is causing.   I wen't back to my old book listings and added the 'author, title, language,' though this new 'required' info feature is not limited to books. I don't have more than 100 listings, but I feel sorry for the seller with hundred or thousands of items that now have to be updated with new info or will not show up in searches. I'm not hopeful that will be resolved. There will probably be no solution to this, other than increase my selling on competitor platforms, esp. OfferUp (which I have been doing for a few years now)
