SELLING ON HARD TIMES #CORONAVIRUS - CONCERN EBAYER

😷 First let me say to my Ebayers - Buyers and sellers to please be safe and wishing everyone a great month. I haven't had enough sales past 10 days, I'm trying my best to make my buyers happy and currently I accept any offers to keep my store online, I'm very concerned for everyone who sells on Ebay. Anyone here has some positive outlook ahead? I want to know who actually will read this as we are a wonderful community on the net.

My sales are currently fine for this time of year.  Seller may get a bit of a bump if more and more people start self quarantining.  Shopping to pass the time so to speak.  Unless they are people that are self quarantining without pay and then we could see the opposite.

Right now it is so hard to say what the heck is going to happen to online sales.  And until we have a better handle on what is going on with real facts, we just aren't going to know.  We can only guess.

The priority right now needs to be getting test kits into the hands of those medical providers that are in desperate need of them.  We can't know what we are battling or make a game plan to battle it until we have the FACTS.

I've found my sales have gone way up in the last two weeks as more people are staying home and spending online.  But at the same time I added a couple of different things to the store and that seemed to help. If your sales are slow try to find something in a faster selling niche and add it in among your regular items. Research is key here.

SELLING ON HARD TIMES #CORONAVIRUS - CONCERN EBAYER

I am currently considering shutting my store down temporarily.  I believe that the items I sell are not critical survival items and they could be just adding to the stress that the shipping industry is undergoing at this time.  If I were selling food, medicine, hygiene supplies, then I would feel differently. I'm also wondering how many bored people will start shopping online because they have nothing else to do...and then regret it later and want to ship things back. Then there is the issue of transferring the virus.  I've heard different theories about how long the virus lives on cardboard, stainless steel and glass.  Could we be potentially assisting the spread. I wish that eBay would give us the option to voluntarily suspend our stores without penalties or fees if we feel our goods are not necessary at this time.  I'd be happy sitting at home preparing listings for when it is safe to sell again.

my sales, usually pretty good, have tanked completely in the last three weeks.  i am content just to wait it out; more important is taking care of family and loved ones.  would be nice if ebay would give us a discount on assigned fees, but i guess that's just wishful thinking.  best to you and yours as we come together to fight this battle.

I firmly believe your heart and mind is in the right place.  But I don't think you need to do that.  Shopping for other things can be very good to allow people a little bit of pleasure during a time that is so stressful for many.

Some will do some shopping they have put off because of lack of time.  Others will get stuff that will keep them busy during their time at home.  Whether that is exercise, crafting, music, movies or something else.

The shipping system will already get a big decrease in volume with Amazon's recent announcement about not shipping from FBA except for medical and essentials for people.  Sellers that don't use FBA will still be ok and can ship their own sales.  This change will cause a huge reduction is what the carriers currently handle.

THIS IS FROM USPS

According to The World Health Organization, “the likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.” And according to the CDC, “in general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods.”

Thank you, but that is what I've said since the beginning.
