Why is it that many items that have very few related or same items listed, have very strong views for the first several days and last several days of their 30 day BIN period, yet nothing really for the middle 20 or so days? What happens to the searchers that only seem to appear at the front and back end of the listing time frame? Who's got the answer?

Its because Newly Listed Items show at the top of first page on a search for the first couple days and then disappear down the pages getting washed over by China Listings...
Then they appear back at the top when Item is Ending Soon.

And many of us search by new and ending to see if we missed something.

Yep, which eliminates having to search through 14 pages of the fake China listings

Are you talking about the eBay home page, where some stuff appears as visitors access the site, or are you talking about when searchers do an actual search?

This is what happens during an actual search.

Some buyer search by newly listed, plus newer items have better real estate. Some buyers search by time ending soonest. There is no search for items in the middle.

When I said a few items. I mean, like 20 to 30 or so listings. No more than a page of 40, lets say.

Keep China out of this one. We're talking less than 40 listings.

Are you talking about new items that are exactly the same.
An example would be a box of sports cards for mu husband.
Then I search low price to highest.
Searching new would be for a category of tens of thousands of items so I can see everything listed for that day.

So if you list an item that has less then 40 listings or less coming up during a search. It will always appear on the first page, (everyday for the 30 day run) since the default number of listings per page is 50 listings. So with that said. Why would those kind of listings get strong first and last week views, yet none for the middle two weeks? Why are their no searchers for the middle two weeks?

Time, Lets say you are listing a Glass Whale Oil Lamp for sale.
1st couple days after you list it, your item will show up on the first page of items when some one searches for Whale, Oil Lamp because its a Newly Listed Item.
After that it will fall to page 8 or 14 or 25 of oil lamps...
Then it will show back at the top of a search listings when its an Item Ending Soon.

But if there are less than a page of items at any given time, then newly listed and ending soonest would not effect any of the other middle run listings, as they would all still be on the same page. You just might have to scroll down a few listings to see them.

Because most savvy buyers search by either Newly Listed or by Ending Soonest.
Those are the only two sorts I ever use, unless I am looking for a specific item.
My main daily search returns 4,000 to 5,000 items - no way I am looking through them all. I search newly listed to catch new items as soon as they are listed, and Ending Soonest to doublecheck that I did not miss anything.
