Returns and selling

Hi, I am looking  for advise from experienced sellers on returns.  When a buyer wants to return an item because it does not fit, and they contact E bay to return the item, do I wait to receive the item back , then refund ?

Also, does E bay provide the buyer with a return shipping label and can I track it, so I can refund quicker, or do I just wait for item to be delivered and then refund. Case closed?  Just another bump to get past, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

@laretroann The way a refund is designed to work is the following, you basically had it the first time. Buyer opens a return case, seller provides a return label, buyer ships item back, tracking is uploaded automatically, once seller received item back they have two days to refund, case closed. That is the way it is designed.

There are variables of course. You should read up on the reasons for returns that a buyer can claim a return so you best how to proceed. Otherwise it's pretty simple, just takes time to run through the process. This platform favors the buyer having a good experience so keep in mind as a seller you are second to the buyer every time. Best of luck to you....

Returns and selling

Thank you for your reply.

It is pretty cut and dry, the whole subject on returns, although when working with E Bay it takes a specific incident to occur before gaining the knowledge of how the process as a whole actually works. It is the other side of the platform that gets a bit complicated or frustrating, because there is no direct line to resolve,  when it comes something like answering a simple question.

The return and the refund are not the problem, there is not a problem. I have only had one other return, and it was simply the buyer didn't like the item I think, nothing that was a policy breaker on my part. I was not sure how to handle it and just told the buyer they could keep it, and refunded them. Which is what E Bay seems to lean towards encouraging, when they notify about a return. Honestly, I don't mind that, except it's the point, and it is business, so not smart to just pay the refund and then not get item back.

This is my first time to figure out how to post a question, and then get a response and find it. Figuring out how took some navigating, but now maybe next time won't be as hard. So this progress is good just for the experience alone. I don't mean to take up time ranting.

It is actually rare that I have a problem, or question, but when I do it is frustrating trying to get help.

I appreciate your time. Thank you.

Looking at your listing, you are missing a LOT of measurements.

Like what is the measurement around the chest, the abdomen and of course the size of the arm holes.

Each clothing manufacturer is going to have different sizes for their small, med and large.  There are even inconsistencies from one garment to the next, both by the same manufacturer, both the same design, just depends on where in the cut pile it lands.

You're going to get a lot of returns without very specific sizing.  And that's your fault.

Normally if everything is listed and the buyer claims it doesn't fit, it's up to them to pay the return shipping, but in your case, because you didn't list correctly, you end up paying for the return postage.  A couple of those and you're into negative money and that's not why we sell here.
