My return rate is a little higher than usually. Anybody remembers the new policy regarding how return rate will affect final value fee & listing visibility?
If I remember correctly, eBay announced that they would start charging extra for categories in which you have a high return rate.

You can review the area you are speaking about by using the promotion tab at the top of the seller hub then click on service metric.

They will likely charge you 40% higher ebay fees for the month or quarter, because of Consumer Electronics refund rate is over 3% and you had 10 returns which is the threshold I believe for them to start evaluating your percentage and apply the penalty. However what is percentage shown on the Seller MEtric pages for return reasons with defects? When you go to a seller metrics page as well, does it show total defective return percentage? This would be the returns they initiated (even though you won the case, they don't care whom won the case or if it was incorrected chosen return reason, they still count it and it penalizes for the 40% extra fee), how many of those 13 do you see on this page as Not As Described or Defective returns?

I only say they probably will penalize you for the whole month or quarter, because your return rate is actually higher than mine in Consumer Electronics, and now they charging me a 40% higher eBay fees (which is approx the size of our mortgage payment in my case). This and their "peer" expectation completely took me off guard.. Still don't think our refund rate is that high for the type of product niche we're in.
You'll want to find out how many of those were return reasons they selected to get the free return shipping (Doesn't Match desc/not as describe, Item Doesn't Work - Defective.., in the Seller Metrics page however.. In our case of that 3%, we had a lot of customers choose the Item Not Working return reason, so they can get free return shipping. Funny thing is, is many of our listings specify they may not work.. Still don't understand how that can be considered a Not As Described return reason for many listings and product types, still trying to figure that out..

Actually If you go to seller hub and then under performance go to seller metrics you will be able to see how you are doing compared to your peers. My 3.84% is actually below average so I'm safe. To be charged the extra 4% you have to be in the very high section which is about 7% and up and more than 10 transactions for that period.
