Hi,
I recently had a buyer want to return a child's jacket to me. They said the item wasn't as described and they wanted a full refund. They went though the appropriate ebay channels to inform me they wanted this refund. They said the sizing on the item was wrong and that it wouldn't fit a 5-6 year old as I had listed and that it was much smaller and would only fit a baby.
I was very confused but apologised right away and said although I didn't think I had made an error on the listing could they please check the label to confirm the size. They did not and continued to tell me that it was just far too small and they wanted to return. I clearly stated no returns on my listing but since they had reported this to ebay saying I hadn't listed it correctly, I felt I had to refund.
So I reluctantly paid ebay to send them a return postage label and awaited the jacket to be returned.
It arrived this morning and I immediately checked the label and it says 5-6 as I suspected. I tried it on my almost 7 year old son to see if the sizing on the product was completely out or something but it fitted him (just about) so clearly is a 5-6 and most definitely not small enough to fit a baby as they have claimed.
I decided to report the buyer to ebayer (even though I know I should probably just have accepted it as bad luck and refunded immediately) because I didn't feel it was right for them to get away with this. They clearly just changed their mind on the item or have a larger than average child and this particular item didn't fit them. I don't see this is my fault as i clearly stated the size on the listing and have in no way lied when selling the item.
Ebay are now looking into the claim I have made against them but they have not indicated how long this takes and have said their action towards the buyer will not be shared with me. So what do I do now? The item has been returned and I have 2 days to refund the buyer. Do I have to wait to see if ebay contacts me again about this? Or do i just cut my losses and refund them immediately?
Never been in this situation before so just really do not know what to do! Have searched all ebay FAQs but finding nothing to help me!
Thanks

You will just have to refund them or get a defect.
EBay will do NOTHING to the buyer. You can only add them to your blocked bidder list.

Refund buyer, ebay has made this a cost of doing business, add buyer into your BBL

I'm not sure where you got the idea, that you CHOSE to accept the return, or that you chose to pay ebay for the shipping.
There is no such thing as no returns on ebay. Period. Anyone can return anything, for any reason. The only way to deny a return, is if you have no returns, AND they open a buyers remorse case. But then, they will still leave you a negative, AND can still go to paypal for a return, and if that fails, they will go to their credit card.
ebay will force you to refund the person, 100%. Period. If you don't, they will just refund it for you. There is nothing for you to do. Be grateful the buyer returned the item in the same condition, let alone returned it PERIOD. I'm not sure what you are expecting ebay to do? You have the item. Did you expect them to let you keep the item AND the money?

Issue the refund before the time limit ends. If you don't ebay will just take the money from your account and you will get a defect.
