Return and Refund

Just a quick question about a refund.

I have a return for fit for $25.99 total. I have exactly $25.99 in my PayPal account and when I go to refund the money it says there is a problem with the refund.

Am I missing something?

you should be doing the refund through ebay, if the buyer opened a return there,,That way once you refund, you will get your ebay fees back..

Return and Refund

I am doing it through ebay. When I try to issue the refund through ebay it does not work which usually only happens when there is not enough funds in PayPal. I have the exact amount in my PayPal balance that I need to issue her refund.

Try topping off your PayPal account with a couple bucks and see if that helps.

Return and Refund

I thought about adding a few dollars to my account but it takes 3 to 5 business days to add money from my bank account and I only have 3 days to refund her money even though she had the shirt 3 weeks before deciding it was too small.

I am thinking there is something going on with ebay today. When i tried to get on the site through my bookmarks and  clicked ebay it took me to a description of one of my items I have for sale, not to the ebay website.

When I went to the community boards it says "this widget could not be displayed" and when I tried to refund the normal way it would not let me.

I just chatted with an ebay rep and he has no idea if anything is going on.

I would suggest changing your paypal funding method to a credit card, temporarily and see if that works. Although it sounds like there is a glitch, or something is not set up right.... If you have your bank account set as a funding method, then it would not matter if you had money in your PP account or not..... I've issued refunds with no money in the PP account, it just pulls from the bank account. In any case, the refunds are not "instant"...... it takes 4 or 5 days for the money to actually appear in the customer's account. If you can't make it work through eBay, then refund them through Paypal. You might lose a little bit of fee that way, but it should keep you out of trouble.

I’m having the same issue. So frustrating that it won’t issue the refund. We shouldn’t have to lose the eBay fees

When you issue a refund, Paypal does not refund your fees anymore. So your Paypal account has to include the amount to the seller, plus the amount you paid to ship the item to them. If you want the item returned to you, then your account has to also include the cost to return the item to you.

Thanks everybody, I just found out you have to have more than the refund amount in your balance to cover fees.

The refund process used to be that you did not have to have a balance in order to issue a refund but that has changed. They will not take the refund out of your bank account any longer , apparently that has been the case for a few months now.

Anyway I chatted with ebay and they of course really messed up the transaction and now on to get that mess straightened out.
