I have been a Five Star eBay seller with fairly large store for over 12 years. Last week I had a nightmare problem with an "unacceptable word" in a description that led to the closing of my store. It is very hard to defend yourself against the Great eBay Computer, so I don't have much hope of being reinstated. I want to share this problem to possibly help other sellers who are using Webinterpret. I signed up for it to have many of my listings put on other eBay sites and translated into the appropriate language. Right after this happened, a listing that had been on US eBay for over a year was flagged with the inappropriate name by the Germany site...in German. This was legitimate pattern name, so the violation was lifted as a courtesy. As a precaution, I searched the name and removed it from another listing, but my mistake, missed the name in the description. A few days later another violation notice in German. This was actually for the listing I had changed earlier as a precaution. I tried to explain to team members that I don't speak German and don't know how to make these corrections in a German listing.
Lots of miscommunication or lack of communication later, I was told the problem would "excalate" where someone, not the computer would address the problem of this new 7 days suspension. No response. After 7 days, up and running again. Three days later another German email saying I was permanently restricted. This time I lost it with team members, which is never good, and for that I want to apologize. The best they could do was give me an address for an appeals letter which I have sent. The best I can hope for is that an understanding human being takes a look at the problem and looks at my history with eBay. I am 73 and have loved every minute of selling on eBay. Imagine my helplessness and hopelessness in seeing all the work put into over 2000 listings just gone. ..not to mention an end to much needed income. eBay is still the best selling site ever in my opinion. It has lost the human connection where it is needed , and it has lost a good seller.

I'm not sure if this will work for you or not depending on how eBay deleted them.
You might find your listings here (there are drop-boxes you may have to change).
If they are there you can UN-Delete them.

I've heard a lot of Webinterpret horror stories, but this is a new one. Are you restricted from all of eBay or just eBay.de? @maggie-magnolia I'm going to assume all of eBay since you have no active listings.

Since I cannot help you, I will only say Remember not to let one site be your everything. Had you had another store on another site, at least you would have only lost the one.
But I am so sorry. To be removed for something that stupid and something so easily fixed.

I also received a suspension--1 day--for a Webinterpret violation in another country (eBay Australia). The entire thing is a nightmare, and I cancelled my service immediately. I don't see any reason why eBay would not remove the violation and reinstate your account if you can properly attribute the issue to Webinterpret. Keep us updated.

When it comes to Webinterpret eBay has offered little to no support because they're a 3rd party service - but eBay actively promotes this service and sellers are getting suspended for Webinterpret's translations of their descriptions. Can you offer some assistance for these sellers brian@ebay?

I am so very sorry. This is just uncalled for.
I accidentally signed up for this webinterpert and immediately found out how to cancel it. To their credit they canceled everything immediately.

Thanks to everyone for your kind and thoughtful replies. This morning I learned I was reinstated. Must give KUDOS to eBay for the way this was handled. Even more kudos to Webinterpret for their quick involvement and willingness to work with eBay. When you can get your problem to a human being, it makes all the difference in the world. As soon as I can get my PayPal reinstated (yes, that went, too!), I will be selling again on eBay and will continue to be a very strong supporter. Unfortunately all 2000 items in my store were permanently deleted. Much work to do, but will be a great way to freshen up my store! From all your kind responses, I plan to cancel Webinterpret and not concentrate too much on international sales. I also am looking into another venue as suggested. THANKS SO MUCH TO THIS GREAT COMMUNITY!!

Now that's a positive attitude if I've ever seen one.
So sorry you're dealing with this, but good to hear your account was reinstated!

I've been routinely selling internationally for years with no Webinterpret involvement. I don't really see what problem they solve.

Please contact eBay for Business at facebook.com/eBayForBusiness and twitter.com/eBayForBusiness
Also I'm going to tag a eBay staffer to see if they can help @Anonymous

2000 items would take me 2000 hours to relist. Get rid of web interpret.
