Request higher selling limits CALL

So, I started selling a few days ago. I sold my first products and received email from ebay saying that i got upgraded to 30 listing and $1000. I only listed 6-7 products and today I tried to list something new and got this message. Why? Im far from 30 listings...

Its not a problem for me to call and talk but i dont know if its going to charge me, since the number is probably in US.

Not sure what the problem is. Use them or don't, not sure why you need to call ebay.

Okay I think I understand the confusion.

  • As a new seller ebay have selling limits for both number of items and total amount of those items.
  • eBay also allows sellers who do not have a store to have 50 free insertions per month.
  • During your first 90 days you are only allowed to sell whatever your limits says.
  • After this time frame you can then have full access to the full 50 free insertions non store sellers get.

I hope that is what you were referring to?

Good Luck Selling!

You could have category limits as well as your item limits for being new. You can call and ask them why you can't list, but you can't request a higher limit for 30 days. At least this is what I was told, but sometimes it's possible t get bad information. Their limits are stupid. One of my accounts has been register for 10 years, and has about 200 sales but they are all over 4 years ago. I have never had a negative, never had a complaint, etc... my first month back I was limited to 15 items a month, then when I called to have the limit raised (after 30 days) they raised it to a whopping 21. SMH. They told me I have to call back every 30 days. They say this is to protect me so i don't get overwhelmed and to ease me into it to ensure I am giving customers good service. It's so dumb. Yet they give brand new sellers twice that? So an ID with no track record gets more listings than one with a perfect track record that just hasn't sold for a while.

Im not complaining that you or any other new seller is getting more listings than I get on my old ID. I opened another ID that obviously has no history of selling and they apparently aren't too worried about brand new (as far as they know) sellers getting "overwhelmed". It makes zero sense.

Anyway, check in the help pages about seller limits to see what categories have additional limits on them. As far as calling eBay, if you are worried about it costing you money I think you might be able to ask them to call you instead. I *think* that's what I actually did, but I could be confusing that with a different time I had to talk to eBay on the phone. Otherwise if you aren't in the US and you don't have free international calling then you will have to pay. As far as I know they only have a "local" US number, no 800 number. Good luck to you!

@vladafkv

You might want to read up on selling digital items and get them listed in the correct category.

You want to make sure the game accounts you are selling are allowed to be sold.

Most sites don't allow accounts to be sold and they could close the accounts and you'll have to refund your buyers.

Right now, your buyers can file an INR and since you don't have tracking showing the item has been received, they will get a refund and you'll be out the item and money.

Have a great day.

I believe if you do a quantity on a listing it counts as that many listings. You can have 60 items listed in a month. So you could have one listing with 60 available or 60 listings for a single item. I am guessing that's what your problem is. If so you won't be able to list any more for 30 days. Just be glad you have 60! Like I said, I have a perfect track record and they won't even let me list that many.

Another thing you can do is open another ID and list on that one as well. Many of us have more than one selling ID. I have 3. So open another one and list on that one to get more listings.

Limits are listed as number of listings, AND dollar amount, whichever comes first.

So if you exceed your dollar amount in, for example, 5 listings, it doesn't matter how many listings you are allowed or have left, you are done for the month.

Hope this helps.

If you exceeded your dollar amount of a thousand dollars, it doesn't matter how many listings you are allowed or how many you have left.

The limits work in conjunction with each other.  You are focusing on number of listings, and not looking at the dollar amount you sold.

The quicker the better...calling attention to those listing violations could be fatal here.

OP, you need to read up on policy regarding digital goods, you are in violation.

You don't want to lose your selling privileges.  I suggest you read up on Ebay policies as pertains to selling and also Buyer Protection Policies.  There is much more to selling than just listing, getting paid, and shipping, and what you don't know can hurt you.  Spending time on this Board each day is also a good way to learn how to handle things.
