Removing account defect

Hello! Is it possible to remove a defect for a case closed without seller resolution when Im not at fault? The package I sent got lost in transit and I was waiting for USPS to respond to me. They never did, but the tracking in ebay showed package research case closed. No more information. Apparently its still on the way according to the tracking on the carrier website. Buyer got a refund and I made a claim with USPS and got my refund. Now theres just the defect.

Removing account defect

In the eBay world there is no such thing as "not the seller's fault"

If you ship the package you are responsible for it's delivery.  The post office can't be blamed.

You have to resolve the issue yourself, before the time frame eBay gives you is up.

If you try to fight it or try to ask eBay for help, you most likely will get a defect.

Yes, if the buyer gets it and you have already refunded, you lose the item and the money.  You may get lucky and get a buyer that will repay you, but don't count on it and don't count on eBay helping.

Their motto always seems to be "the seller is wrong, the buyer is right"

What would happen if I refunded the buyer and they received the item after?

You would need to communicate to the buyer ... perhaps at the time you issue the refund ... that you would appreciate their repaying you if the package eventually arrives.

eBay has no mechanism to repay sellers under these circumstances.  The buyer would need to repay the seller through PayPal or a similar venue.
