Removing Best Offer from a Listing and CS Response

So today I was messing around with my listings, removing discounts here, changing sales here or there, adding BO there, stuff like that.  After all was done, I discovered I had unintentionally added BO to a couple of items I always carry at a good price, and I wanted to remove it.  Turns out if you have ever had a sale on an item that has BO, it can't be removed without ending the item and relisting it.  This made me a bit miffed, so I called CS to see if they could do anything about it.  Turns out they can't.

What really struck me was what the CS rep suggested.  "Just put the auto accept price .01 below youre stated price, that will fix it!"  I responded that that's a really good way to **bleep** off potential buyers, which she responded with "Well at least you won't see that they're **bleep** if it's auto declined!"  Really?  I get that the CS rep can't help with the way the code is written, but suggesting a work around that is only going to **bleep** off people who want to give me thier money??

I obviously relisted the items, lost about 150 watchers in the process, but at least the new watchers won't be posting on the boards asking why is there BO if it's only .01 below the original price???

Why didn't you just set an auto-decline at a figure you didn't want to sell for and let the rest stand?

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Customer Service doesn’t always give the best advice, and sometimes even inaccurate advice. Members are better off coming to the boards to get information, as you have done.

Setting the auto decline for one cent less is going to make the buyer ticked at the seller, who didn't want the Best Offer there to start with.

Removing Best Offer from a Listing and CS Response

So CS is using my fix for the issue. I had a BIN added a couple years ago which I couldn't remove. So after much ranting and trying this and that I resorted to the penny lower solution. I also added a note in the listing that I didn't add it, couldn't remove it and that it didn't work. I've posted my solution here a few times. So we know that CS reads these boards, or gets reports.

You have to realize that most offers may be for less than half the asking price, the second may come up to half. At this point he knows he's got one offer left. He will never know what the minimum acceptable offer is and will kick himself for using up his offers on low ball choices. But you don't tell anyone about the penny deal. He's as mad at himself as at you.
