Refunds

I am doing a requested return. I sent return label and received item but the buyers money is still on hold. How does this work? Will the refund come from my account or will funds be returned from the funds on hold?

Refunds

You issue the refund. Once the case is closed, the held funds will be released.

@owl324

It comes from the seller, that's why the funds are on hold.  Ebay would rather have you issue it because you're the one the payment was sent to.

If your funds are "on hold" due to being a new, returning, or infrequent seller, eBay will not use those funds for the refund.  You will have to front the money (eBay will take it from your available funds,  your bank account or a credit card on file).  When the on hold funds are released, they will be yours.

What itty said.

Even though they are holding the funds to be sure funds are available to refund, they won't take the refunds out of those held funds (which would be why they're freaking holding them in the first place), but will take it from either your available funds or if none available they'll deduct it from your "payment source".

Most of the time it's not that big an issue, unless you happen to sell and have to refund a more expensive item where you don't have the buyer's funds, or enough to cover it yourself.
