Refund on Wrong Address? Please HELP.

I sold two large expensive items on Ebay to a buyer.   I shipped UPS, and since it was an oversize package it was very expensive to ship $$$.    I shipped to the exact address that was provided in checkout.  I noticed early last week that it wasn't delivered, so I checked the tracking on UPS, and it says it wasn't the correct address, and they were trying to reach out to the addressee on the correct address, so they could try an deliver package.

After seeing this I immediately emailed the buyer early last week about the package, and explained to them that they need to contact UPS to let them know the correct address, so they can deliver package or they could give me the correct address, and I would contact UPS.  They never responded back, so I emailed them again with the UPS phone number, so they could contact UPS.   Once again, no reply from buyer.  I emailed them them again on Monday of this week, and they never responded.   That was three emails without any response, and UPS tried to contact them without sucess.

Today, I received the package back from UPS marked undeliverable address not valid.

Due to the error from this buyer giving the incorrect address I will be out $200 to $220 in shipping fees.  I didn't know it, but UPS charges an almost $30 incorrect address fee, and they also charge you the shipping back on the return.

My question, can I deduct these shipping charges from the refund?   I don't feel like it is my responsibility to eat $200+ in shipping due to the buyer giving the wrong address.  I shipped EXACTLY as listed in the checkout address that Ebay provided.

This is very frustrating.  Please any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Refund on Wrong Address? Please HELP.

Personally,

I would deduct all fees you were charged since ebay does not refund you their fee for partial refunds.

Refund on Wrong Address? Please HELP.

If the buyer has not opened any type of claim you can try going the partial refund route. Just be aware that if they file a formal claim you might still be on the hook for the full amount.
