Recommended Item Specifics Year Manufactured WRONG Non-Topographical POSTCARDS

I already posted in different groups (seller tools and eBay technical issues) and it is taking way too long for this problem to be corrected.

On the listing page, the Item Specific Year Manufactured was part of the Additional Item Specifics (not recommended, not a requirement) for all postcards topographical and non-topographical.

Year Manufactured has been recently moved to the Recommended Item Specifics (a requirement) for non-topographical postcards.

My Item Specifics were up to date for all postcards up to recently when the Year Manufactured was added to the Recommended Item Specifics for Non-Topographical postcards (holidays, greetings, transportation, people, comic, RPPC, religion, etc.)

These cards (including some for holidays coming up) are not compliant with eBay item specifics requirement and are now stagnating with probably reduced visibility.

All postcard types are already classified by Era in the Recommended Item Specifics section (divided back 1907-19015, chrome 1936 to present, linen 1930s-1950s, etc.).

Recommended specifics are not required.

True.

But in seller hub, it tells you there are items that need item specifics.

eBay sends you a message "you have items needing item specifics".

If I were to use the checking for item specifics feature as intended, it means that every non-topographical postcard needs to be 'touched' a second time after listing - to go in and check a box 'ignore missing item specifics'

It can be a real pain when you list 81 holiday postcards and have to do something to each one again.

I was going to bring this up at the weekly chat except it got cancelled for this week.

I am still doing battle about the every non-topographical card must be holiday and have an artist.  Now it must have a magical 'date of manufacture' which even the makers probably can't provide.

It is my understanding that Recommended specifics boxes need to be checked/completed with some type of info like actual specific or n/a, unknown, or enter your own.

There is no need to enter anything in other additional specifics.

Ebay made it a requirement that all Recommended Item Specifics be completed by February 2022.

It's not a recommended specific anymore on NON Topographical postcards, it's required. They switched it in the last week or so. I've had to fix a lot of them lately (adding even MORE labor to this disaster).

I brought this up about a week ago. I am not going to "guess" at date manufactured as I  have already listed an era. This should not be an item specific. I have never seen "date manufactured" on any postcard...maybe a copyright date (occasionally), or publisher edition date (occasionally) but those don't necessarily mean the date that particular card was printed. Who can we talk to at eBay to get this changed? I notice they moved the country of origin out of the required item specifics, and that probably is more relevant than date manufactured!

Was that in the newest update?  I haven't listed much at all the past few months so I'm sure I'm behind on stuff.   I have postcards, I guess I need to get my N/A ready.

I totally agree with you.

I already posted in the Listing Tools group and also in Community Technical issues. Velvet mentioned it could be a coding error or a new requirement, she was going refer issue to the page team.

This has been going on for over a week. I have over 200 non-topographical cards that would need to be updated.

I have already updated over 2000 postcards to ensure I was in accordance with new requirements by February 2022.  The card era is mentioned in all my listings. That's all we need.

It is simple. Year Manufactured does not apply to postcards and it's easy to understand why. Period.

Forgot to mention... 200 cards that would need to be updated... with what?

Definitely not with a Year Manufactured!

With n/a, unknown, does not apply? Extra work for nothing? Like "artist" and "occasion"... when listing non-topographical in series that have nothing to do with occasion or artist (transportation, patriotic, ethnicities, etc.) Nonsense.

I am getting frustrated because I posted several times, and I also clicked on "comments" on the listing page to specifically explain the problem. And the number of cards that need update is growing every day.
