Receiving Fees back

Buyer informed me the item she bought came damaged.  There was a big hole in box. She sent me pictures.  I honestly don't know what fed ex smart post does to these items. She said, she realizes I don't offer returns. I said in this case I definitely would. She is shipping back item and I'm refunding the whole amount. My question is,  do I get my fee back from ebay? My fee was over $30.00.  I consider myself an expert shipper, and the only items that ever get damaged are when I use smart post. This wad a beautiful brass Antique fan, and now it's ruined.  Unbelievable.  Thanks

Receiving Fees back

The buyer should open a request for a return using the return that the item was damaged. You'll be asked by ebay to send a return label because the item is not as described  If you have already sent the label the buyer can just enter the tracking number in to the request to show that the package is on its way back. Once you get the package back and you refund through the ebay return request, your fees will be credited to your account.

Btw, it doesn't matter if you accept returns or not if the item is not as described. In those situations you either have to pay for the buyer to return the item and then refund them or just refund them outright without requirng a return.

Question - Why use smart post at all if you have had problems with damage in the past?

Receiving Fees back

I have to on big items. Post office is ridiculous. I would lose to much money.

Don't use FedEx. They're the worst for damaging packages.

Finding that out, it's just that the postage is killing me sometimes through usps. Thanks

Totally agree! Damage to items I've received via FedEx happens over and over again. Many of the boxes look like a fork lift has rammed into them.

Try regional rate or flat rate boxes for heavier items (if they're small enough to fit in the PM boxes provided by USPS). Often times, smaller packages far far less expensive. However, if you are selling large items, USPS might not be best for you. UPS is more reliable than FedEx, and easier to work with, too.

I think your exactly right. It does look like a forklift. It totally cracked the housing on a antique fan😡

Thank you. I live on the East Coast and I swear the West Coast is where I'm always shipping too

The same thing just happened to me.  Have eBay send the label.  They sent my customer a USPS label and charge me a lot less that the money I had paid Fed Ex Smart post to send it.  I'm never using Smart Post again.
