I have an item listed for $225, and I'm running a storewide sale that drops the price to $176. I received an offer for $75. I considered taking it for a few reasons, mostly because of lack of sales.
In the offer, ebay actually mentioned the buyer has been an ebay member for 10 years. Then I saw that in those 10 years, the buyer has FB of 4, 3 are more than 5 years old, one is more than a year old.
My inner voice is saying hacked account (but why wouldn't they just buy it, why an offer?) , or is it the low FB I'm uncomfortable with, or both?
I'd like some input from you guys. What would you do? Thanks!

I wouldnt have something listed as 225 on sale for 176 and have offers.
BUT its up to you if you want to accept 75 or not.
I never look at buyers time as members.
I never look at where they are.
I only look at FB they left for others.
Is this for the pan missing a rivet?

You can counter offer.
You currently have 25%(?) off. 30% off is $157.50
I might counter offer at $125 and see what happens.
But I agree that using both Reduced Price AND Best Offer seems a bit desperate.
Even with the missing rivet, which will cost the eventual buyer either time or money to fix.
FWIW - You have 37 Sold items in the past 90 days.
But 10 of those sold in the past two weeks.
Maybe, just possibly, sales are already turning around for you.

I have offers enabled all the time. This is the 1st 'store sale' I've done. I didn't think to turn off offers before the sale. I can bulk edit them now, but I've only gotten the one offer on an item. It's not for the All Clad Cop R Chef pan. The offer is for a Bible.
Normally, I wouldn't look at the time as member, it was in the offer I received. I don't think I've noticed it before, but the offer came in while I was at my grandson's baseball practice, so I read it on my phone. Maybe it appeared larger.
I don't normally check feedback, but I saw the (4), so followed it.
I don't have an issue with the offer as much as with the low feedback and it being so old. That's what prompted the post. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

This is my 1st store wide sale, I didn't think to turn off offers, but, I AM trying to fire up sales. At the end of April, 25 January sales drop off and because I made an error in not thinking about how sending 4 items without tracking would make my metric for tracking being uploaded and verified drop which would in turn impact my Top Rated status, I will lose it if I don't make 21 sales before the end of April. Maybe I AM a bit desperate 😁.
The missing rivet on the pan does not need to be replaced, the pan is fine without it. The buyer most likely will not replace it. The offer is not for the Cop R Chef pan, it's for one of our Bibles.
I don't have an issue with the offer as much as with the low feedback and it being so old. 3 of the 4 FB are 5+ years old, 1 is over a year old. That's what prompted the post.

I don't accept any offers, but I see nothing to be concerned about from this buyer.

A Bible?
Aaargh.
There are no worse customers than the "holy".
I sell books and since theology is a hobby of mine, that includes books on Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc.
And those are such entitled donkeycaps.
A friend who sells hijabs has the same problem.
So it doesn't seem to have much to do with what religion.

A $75 lowball offer on a $225 listing? I wouldn't even consider it! (But it looks like I'm in the minority!)

Remember a few weeks ago there was a thread about a vulgar feedback left by the buyer? The item purchased was a Chrisrian CD. 😉

I agree with others - I would also add 2nd Ed to your listing description & leather in VG condition and some other details to reassure the buyer about the condition and make them see the value in the earlier ed.
If you are already offering a sale and it is fair market value - why take a major hit and reset the price standard for everyone else?
The challenge you have, thanks to Ebay, is there is another 4th printing featured just above your description influencing the bidder thus the price they offered- this is where Ebay shoots everyone in the foot for the contradictory & unsupportive practices on everyone's listing page making it that much harder to make a sale. Unf the other one has lots of writing in it and cost should be adjusted to reflect that but the viewers dont know that until after they click on it.
I cross checked against Abe Books - the good news is your listing & photo is featured in 2 places on 1st half of google page and only yours for Ebay.
What I usually say to buyers is that I do my research and this is fair market value, mine is in VG condition
and I think they will be happy - certainly having a New Testament in great shape is a real bonus as anyone that reads it daily knows it will eventually show wear.
Alternatively, you can say the same as above and counter and say the best I can do is offer at $160 if that will help but you cant lose a lot of money on it.
Its really not fair to be making such low ball offers
If the buyer has only bought 10 things in 10 years and half are low FB given as a buyer is V bad - if they gave low fb even worse - I would read what the specific complaints were
maybe you say thank you for the offer but its firm! - good luck

As a big seller of Christian books and other items, we haven’t had that problem. All our problem customers have been other items mostly. But I do understand, other industries have the same complaint sometimes (particularly restaurants from what I hear).

Maybe he sells with another ID. (I do.) Follow your gut. That 75 dollars is way too low. Maybe drop the 176 a little. If he keeps pestering, block him.

It's not the 1st offer I received on this Bible. I declined the last one also. It was from an ebay seller, their feedback was great from their buyers, the ones who purchased all their Bibles...

I don't know what the item is, but the $75 offer sounds like a slap in the face.
