Question on Ebay messages and emails!

Well I have a little time on my hands so I can get maybe a fee answers or at least suggestions on how to combat these messages!

Thanks in advance on your input.

Question 1. I am always getting messages from ebay about making changes to my listings as suggested by them.

My problem is some of the suggestions are absolutely unrelated to my item. They will have a specific that they suggest that I add to my listing that has no relation to the item. They will for example ask for a color of an item for specifics and color has nothing to do with the item.  Poor example but trying to illustrate the issue!

Question 2. I get a message to update my listings to their suggestions and they show me price adjustments that I should consider changing in order to make a Quicker Sale.

One item suggestion (that I sold with changing) was some fishing items. I had 6 listed with free shipping for like $29.00 w/free shipping and another vendor was  selling his for like $13.50 w/free shipping for quantity 2. Huge difference in my individual cost compared to his.  This is only one example and I finally sold mine but It sure made me curious as to how to handle this request from Ebay.  I ended up doing nothing but was always showing up in my listings performance.

Question 3.  another of Ebays suggestions is to give Free Returns. I will be surprised as to how it will help my sales. I don't think I have seen to many on these forums post that there sales are booming now since they went Free Returns!  Just thought I would get thoughts on this one!!

Thanks much for your time and Stay Safe through this virus attack on us!!

Question on Ebay messages and emails!

These issues get batted around by sellers all the time.  If not here, definitely on the various FB forums.  Don't let them get to you-it's all bot generated.  I never mind a friendly suggestion about my listings...heck, new eyes can be beneficial but eBay's suggestions are spit out simply because there are item specifics for similar items.  While the best way to show in a search is by using the specifics as best you can, if you don't see the need for something, ignore it and move on.   Your example was eerily like some situations I had recently-color shouldn't have been an issue but the bots suggested anyway...

Same goes for price.  If you're like me you know your items and the comps.  As long as you feel good in your pricing, ignore eBay's suggestions.  Returns are a matter of opinion/how you want to run your business and be seen by your buyers.  Most sellers hate the idea of free returns for obvious reasons but the reality is it's where ecommerce has gone.  Doesn't mean you have to offer it but consider how your listing and you as a seller will be perceived by buyers.  Hope this helps

You have to understand that no human being reviewed your listings and made these suggestion. These message are generated by a computer algorithm based on generalizations that can be wildly off target.
