Question for BIG accounts

Hi there,  we are approaching 1M a month in listings/sales and had a question for other substantial account holders.

As everyone knows, false counterfeit claims & vero claim can really derail a business, and when you have 10's of thousands of listings the odds of getting those claims goes up.

For the average seller that has 100 or even 500 listings, I can see where getting 3 claims is a problem, but when you have 20,000-40,000 listings, getting 3 claims is really miniscule and virtually unavoidable with that quantity.    (And we all know the majority of those claims are false to begin with)

What are the steps and precautions you've put in place to protect your business?

Getting a three day suspension when you are working out of the garage is one thing, but when you have dozens of employees and facility overhead a 3 day (or even more) suspension is more serious matter.

Spoke to Ebay customer service today and they really didnt have an answer they could share, it was more of a "good luck" without a real solution for those that want to build a large business here on this platform.

Anyway, getting multiple backup accounts is one option, however building them to the point they allow you to list 1m a month is not easily achieved...

Is there a comprehensive list of keywords and companies that trigger the claims somewhere online?

There are some I already know and avoid like the plague, but it seems we keep running into more the hard way....

Thanks for your insight and suggestions!

Regards,

-M

Question for BIG accounts

We have been selling for 7 years we sell about 60k a month so small beans compared to you but in those 7 years and about 70k transactions a year we have only ever had one vero claim. That was for using the word "onesie" Gerber owns that word so it wasnt even a false claim. If you are getting so many claims you are getting 3 day suspensions I would start looking into the real reason why. They cant all be false claims.

Question for BIG accounts

First off, I believe only the actual copyright holder can make a VERO claim (eBay may police at some level like using a brand to lure people into a listing not for that brand). So unlikely they are false claims maybe your titles have something to do with it, you are misusing someone's IP, or are selling counterfeit items (maybe unknowingly).

Second, right now you have less than 8,000 listings not 10's of thousands.

Finally, I be more concerned about your feedback rating 97%. You seem to have the kind of negatives that turn people off.

Question for BIG accounts

I would guess the account he posted from is a secondary account to sell from so when banned on the other there is a backup with only a few thousand feedback if they are doing 1m a month in sales they would have alot more then 3626 feedback. But your statements hold true either way.

The other one that comes up regularly is "velcrow" (Incorrect spelling to not anger the bots). Same goes for variations roller skates. It would be nice if there was a published list somewhere sellers could easily access. Often these "oopsies" are entirely accidental and it would be very helpful if sellers could get the opportunity to repair rather than having a listing poofed into oblivion.

Question for BIG accounts

exactly, and we are not suspended on any account nor have we been.  The concern is that with say 40,000 listings, getting 3 claims (which seems to be the magic number to start issues) that's only .008 of your listings having an issue.   The question was primarily for those doing these listing quantities as only at that scale do these become real concerns.   If someone has 1000, or even 10,000 listings they are not worried about .008 percent as that's not even "one" claim yet.
