First time posting on this forum. I've been selling for a few months and have recently received my first return request. The buy emailed, said he made a mistake with the purchase, and had sent the item back the day after delivery, requested a refund. I replied that I would issue the refund for the selling price as soon as the item was returned. One week after his email, no return. I should say that this person had a problem with English. I've checked on my account page, he did not file a request for return with Ebay. As far as I can tell his email was the only indication that he wanted a refund.
My question to more experienced sellers. Should I do anything other than what I have done, namely replied to his email via Ebay?
Thanks in advance.
KJ

IF he opens a case either via ebay or PP, let us know here.
Your answer to the case would be return for refund.

People sometimes change their mind once they receive their purchase. I have had t hat happen on a few occasions. Your parcel may just show up, but I would just wait and see if you get any further communication. If not....then wait out the return period.

If the item DOES happen to show up, make him file through eBay. That is the only way this buyer can be tracked. I would guess that less than half of my items are actually returned after buyers raise the issue. Most are looking for a partial refund.

Since the buyer claimed to have ALREADY shipped it back before he contacted you and you haven't received anything I would have to "guess" he saw you as a newbie seller who just might be dumb enough to just give him the refund and he could have his money and the item. It's a good thing you proved him wrong.

We typically send ONE follow up note. Most times, they don't reply back or reply thankful for our communication and keep the item.
Recently, we had someone accidentaly buy the wrong edition text book for over $200. They asked for a return. We replied. Then replied again.
No word from them. No guilt on us.
