Question about Promoted Listings

According to the writeup, if you "promote" which means paying more to see your listings by 30% boosting

 >>>>>item exposure by 30% and increasing the likelihood of a saleboost....

Isn't this the same as that other site -- E*C site -- which gives you levels to choose from...for example. 2.9% low visibility; 5.9% medium, 14.9% high.

What's the difference?   The higher the fee we pay the higher our visibility?

Half.com went up to 14.9% fees, but didn't offer more visibility.  So I delisted.

All this sponsored/promoted listing does is guarantee higher visibility, but you still have to SELL to make money and pay the fee.

You are correct. You would be paying a higher fee so that you're items are 'seen' but that still doesn't guarantee sales. To me, it's a catch 22. If a seller's stuff is already selling, they really don't need a boost in visibility. If a seller's stuff isn't selling, would a boost in visibility help? Probably not, because there are most likely other factors involved in why their stuff isn't selling. Personally, I wouldn't pay for extra visibility.

No these two sites work completely differently.  What you are paying for on ecrater is called a search engine submission for goodle, yahoo, bing shopping sites which cost money to participate.  On marketplaces like ecarter, eBay only the site owner (ebay, Ecrater, Etsy, etc) can submit to these shopping sites.  Since eCrater is a free listing site they have to collect in order to promote outside the site and that is what this fee you are referring to is for.

eBay actually pays on behalf of its seller base for items to be shown in these same shopping site so that is a benefit to you the seller when you list on eBay.  The amount is in the milllions per month (somewhere in the past few years I was able to see this breakdown) Etsy also spends millions per month for these same kind of ads.  See and you only thought eBay was a money grab?  They do pay off for eBay in more FVF's from sales and eBay has worked out a formula that works well for them.

The promoted listings on eBay are for special placement in the eBay best match search results.  When you purchase a promoted listing promotion, all the items you included will show an extra listing that is a promoted listing.  Your original listing is also in the search an well, so in effect you have two identical listings when eBay shows the promoted listing.  I have seen both of my listings (the orginal one and the promoted one - both the same listing) show right next to each other many times.

Also keep in mind you do not pay eBay anything extra until someone buys your promoted listing.  If they buy the original listing you do not pay any extra fees.

It is no where close to the evil ebay tool you are reading here in the forum.  I would recommend quit reading post from these fake news users.  If  they are not offering you advice about current dealing, I would probably steer clear of them.

Good Luck Selling!
