Promote your listing Dynamic ad rate is missing something important.

It needs a max % the seller is willing to pay. If an item is at 6.5% and jumps to 15% the following week, I would like to cap my % across all items or the max % for each dynamic ad rate listing.

I like the idea, but I will have to continue with the old fixed rate until I can control the max it could cost me to promote the item.

@legionne  I have paged eBay in gurl's thread.  I did not realize this was something new when I replied to you.  I thought you were just talking about PL Automated.  We'll have to wait on eBay to explain the differences, but in the mean time, if you wish to create a campaign now, you can use Automated & there IS a field for Ad Cap Rate.    Sorry for any inconvenience.

@legionne  That's not missing.  There's an option to do that.  I use it.  Just use PLAutomated, not to be confused with PLAdvanced, which is a whole different animal.   The only to get the dynamic %age is to use Automated & one of your options there is an Ad Cap Rate, exactly what you're looking for.

Ok, thank you.

I will go find it.

They need to add it to the options when you click Promote.

It is not an option from this screen.

Are you certain (I mean absolutely certain) that Automated still exists, simultaneously with Dynamic, as opposed to Dynamic REPLACING Automated?  The ability to set a cap is exactly the kind of thing I suspect Ebay may be wanting to terminate, by creating this Dynamic thing.  Have you tried creating a new listing in the past couple days, and were you able to include it in your Automated campaign, with a cap set?

Yes.  I am 100% certain.  B/C I just went to do one & it's there & let me choose it.   I always use an Ad Cap Rate.

HOWEVER, when I replied to @legionne  post here, I had NOT seen your thread & did not realize there was a  "new" program.  I though they were just trying to do the Automated campaign.

I have paged eBay in @gurlcat thread to see what they say about the differences in the progams & referenced this thread & that it's apparently missing the Ad Cap Rate per @legionne , like Automated has.

I have no further info, as Mentors did not receive advance warning, so IDK anything else.  We'll have to wait & see what eBay says, which won't be until tmw, since it's after hours now.

Hate to say it but I have a feeling Dynamic and Automated will not coexist forever, that Dynamic is being rolled out to replace Automated, and the ability to set a cap will vanish.

This was actually discussed here when the change was made....I don't have time to look for the old threads, but as I explained, Dynamic is nothing but a new name for the Automated version of Promoted Listing Standard. The functionality has NOT changed, only the name has changed. The cap is still available.

Thanks for the help. That option may be already in the pipeline. It is a brand-new feature. I noticed yesterday that the home page and listings were unavailable for about 2 or 3 minutes. When it came back, I had that new option.

I play around with sales markdowns, coupons, best offers and promote your listing options. The new Dynamic promotion rate adjusts daily sounds great.

I want to know the max that promotion could cost me ahead of time and then let eBay adjust that based on their Algorithm. Let it do all the work.

One more thing while I have your ear. Eyes would be more accurate in this case. Is there a way to add a packaging and handling fee with free shipping selected? I think it is only an option if using calculated shipping.   I can add a fee for local pick-up.

I have found the thread you're talking about.  So, maybe the cap was still available THEN (13 days ago), according to the screenshot shared in that thread:

but it is no longer available NOW, according to the OP's screenshot taken today:

I don't see any place to set a cap.

@gurlcat  Hard to tell, but it appears the OP already has an existing Dynamic Campaign going on---that is where the cap is found. OP can go to the Advertising Dashboard in Seller Hub, then to the active campaign , and then can edit the campaign if he wants to change the existing cap. If he didn't set a cap when he originally set up the campaign , he can do it with the edit function.

Hmm, I've been using promotions for years but I guess I still don't know exactly what a "campaign" is.  When I create a listing I just decide the promotion rate then, though I may change it later.  I don't have to mess with a cap because I don't use automated (I know it would just go in the UPWARD direction every time, no thank you, lol!).
