Why are Playboy magazines being blocked from posting?  Where is the adult category?

For God's sake, there are schools allowing sexual Lewdness and lascivious behavior being taught to first graders yet an adult magazine for men is being banned? Our country is going insane. Create or reinstate an adult category for your sellers (and buyers) if you are so offended by it.

AFAIK there is no 'block' on listing certain Men's Magazines.

As long as the item listed shows no 'nudity' (as described by ebay here:

-------------------------------

Adult magazines, books and comics that contain nudity are allowed only if they don't contain sexual activity and if no images of nudity are showing in the listing

  • Some examples of this include Bear (magazine), Blue (magazine), Butt (magazine), Gayletter, Mayfair, On Our Backs, Penthouse, Playboy, Playgirl, and Playguy. This isn't an exhaustive list of magazines, books and comics we allow. Any adult magazine or comic that doesn't contain sexually explicit content can be listed following the guidelines in this policy.

I suggest doing a search of this Board, there have been quite a few threads about adult material. ebay did away with the Adult Category a while ago.  (And I doubt it will ever come back) I'll try to find the current ebay "rules" about adult stuff, but will warn you that absolutely no one fully understands them, as even the sections that appear to be most clear are rarely actually treated that way by ebay. ebay's Adult Policy is poorly written, but ebay's implementation of the policy is even worse...much worse.

@coffeeboy2  Here's a link to the policy page:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/adult-items-policy?id=4278

Go ahead and read it.

If you are like most people, you will probably come away with more questions than answers, and then when you see ebay actually applying the policy, you'll end up even more confused.

The Adults Only Category disappeared when Adyen became the payment processor for eBay.  Adyen will not process payments for such businesses as strip clubs, "adult" bookstores, brothels, "gentlemen's clubs," and the like.  So, eBay had to (or was convinced that it had to)  eliminate the Adults Only category when Adyen became the payment processor, after PayPal bowed out.

Of course, the problem is that no one has ever been able to define to everyone else's satisfaction what is "adult" and what is not, and all the definitions shift across societies and through time in each society, as well.

The result, on eBay, is one hot mess, with primitive AI, and then confused humans, unable to make sense of it.  I'm glad I don't, and naver had, sold anything remotely in the "adult" category.

Not sure why you believe that what is allowed elsewhere has any effect on what is allowed on eBay.

And your suggestion about creating or reinstating an adult category is wasted here because, when you post on these Boards, you're not addressing eBay.

Yeah, I would've been interested in exploring that statement further also.
