Twice now in the last two months eBay has had an item sell which was previously sold some years ago!
From reading here this has been an on going intermittent problem for years. The issue has even been given the name "Ghost Listings" from members that participate here. From what I can tell eBay tends to deny the issue exists. Do you have item numbers of both the old and resurrected posts to compare? Likely the old info is no longer visible to you, but apparently it is visible to someone or some computer at ebay.
I don't know how you would get an "out of stock" defect removed for this. Hopefully, someone will come by with advice for you who has been through this issue.
