Pre-filled feedback comments.

I was trying to leave feedback for a few items today and the comment was already filled in with things that were not true. I could not delete it and put my own comment in. So I guess some seller are not getting feedback from me.Screenshot - 8_11_2022 , 4_19_29 PM.png

This is happening with sellers also. The selected feedback from ebay doesn't go with what you want to say. Very few are happy with this and many say they wont be giving any feedback.

You don't have to delete the inane pre-filled comment, just type right over it.

As another posted.................................   just enter your feedback. From what I read on another thread that nonsense "feedback suggestion" goes away when you type in the box.

Just click your cursor in that box and start typing. That big long "hint" text should completely disappear as soon as you type the first letter.

This misfire is eBay's attempt to revise the feedback interface yet again for some unfathomable reason. Apparently the old interface was working properly, so of course it had to go.

A buyer just purchased a one-of-a-kind eBay item and wants to leave his personal seller feedback.  What default message is less confusing?

A. "Enter your feedback here. This message will disappear when you start typing".  (Or just have "Enter your feedback here:" followed by an empty entry box. KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid -me

B. "Great find! I've been looking for this and considered two other options. This one looked most promising. When I got it, it was even better than the picture! Plus, the extra detail in packaging made it perfect." - If it's not broke, fix it. -eBay

What is eBay thinking? The change caused a significant reduction in my buyer feedback. I noticed the drop in feedback before finding out about eBays feedback changes.

Well, they're not. For some reason they are relying on cheap contract programming by people who rather obviously are not familiar with how eBay works. Code that's handed in goes into Production without any apparent testing, QA or peer review, and this is what results.

We have sample text in the seller's feedback form that is written (or perhaps overwritten) as sample text for a buyer. Once the seller completes the form, he then gets a popup asking if he would like to add himself to his list of favorite sellers (again because the code doesn't know whether the user is the buyer or seller in the transaction). These are errors that would have been reported in Round 1 of code testing, if there had been any code testing.

Incidentally, I've found two instances of that sample comment in actual feedback transactions, although I don't know if it was a different coding screwup that allowed it, or if the buyers somehow thought they were supposed to type that in. In neither case did the feedback seem like plausible comments: one was for a fluorescent light ballast and the other was for a white noise generator for a toilet. (Yes, really.)
