Long story short:
I sold a good graphics card to a buyer, after three days of having it, he decided to open a return saying the card does not work. I asked for proof of their claims as they said it was not booting but they refused to acknolodge me asking for proof. We discuss more and he changes his story saying the card does boot through the computer's bios but does not boot into windows and shows a screen with green lines on it. I asked for a picture of this but again the buyer refuses to send a picture of the issue but instead posts 5 pictures of the card in different angles (this of course solves nothing). The buyer says he has installed no drivers for the graphics card and that his older card works fine though with the system. I offer to help walk him through trouble shooting his issues but he refuses any help and says that I am threatening him for not giving a refund and harrassing him even though I have been polite the whole time and offer to help where I can.
He claims to have called eBay support but there are no cases opened against me.
The buyer has also left me a good review when after they have had the card for a day which makes this all so much more puzzling.
I have sold a handful of graphics cards and have received good feedback from those sales and this buyer inpeticular is being very difficult and potentially trying to do something shady. I even said I've give him a refund if he simply provided me with pictures of this issue (this was before he admitted to the card actually working and booting past the bios). I feel as if the buyer made up a story and realized he can't actually provide a pic of his claim as he refuses to upload anything relavent to what he actually claims.
I am going to give eBay a call tomorrow and see what they have to say... I am in utter shock at how difficult a buyer can be. I want to trust buyers, but this is something else...
What are the chances of me winning the case? I know eBay does not care about their sellers, but I feel like there is some potential here. The buyers has been extremley rude the whole time as well.
Thank you for any feedback on this and have a good night, fellow eBayers

No dont wait it will not go in your favor.
When you accept the return --- insist they have to return it they will give you the option--- buyer pays shipping. Buyer may not even bother if they find out have to pay $15 to ship it back. They cancel such a return you might even get to keep the money. Same if they dont return it after x amount of days.

Nothing better will happen for you on the 13th, so don't wait for it to be escalated. Accept the return (I do see your reply where you said you would), hope that it's returned in good shape, verify that it's still in working order, and either relist it here or sell it locally for cash.

Selling expensive items here can be very challenging. Always protect yourself when you sell anything over $100 its a good idea to get postal insurance. Make the buyer jump through ebay hoops and return the item via ebay and dont refund using other than ebay either or you can get triple dipped lose the item, your paypal funds and the return money via ebay. Protect yourself. Electronics returns tends to be very high its why I stopped selling electronics here.

How do I go about having the option for 'buyer repays return shipping'? These are all the options it gives me.

OK so it looks like this is changed as things so often do on EBAY.
Is this item under 1 pound? You may have to spring for a first class label to get this item back.
The option used to be there to make them pay for the shipping. I guess ebay is just shafting the sellers again by not allowing this option anymore.

The item weighs 3 pounds accounding the google.
04-10-2018 10:54 AM
Well first class 3 lbs label is around $6 or $7 I think for that?

I believe so.
What do you suggest?

"Accept the return" eat the $7 label and pay for it. If they return the item damaged complain about it to ebay. If it comes back ok refund them. Mark up the item for all the difference in price you lost when you relist it etc.

With an inad case you cannot make the buyer pay return shipping

See jason_incognito explained in other thread if they said "item not as described---seller pays return label" if they said "I dont want it" then the buyer pays for return.

In a way its good if the buyer doesnt know that and is a scammer and doesnt know to request INAD

I sent a return lable. It was only like $3, no big deal. I told the buyer that I would inspect the card once arrived and offer a refund if it turns out good.
