I noted that many quality sellers post pictures with everything in the background whited out. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

There are several apps that you could research and try. I personally use Adobe 8.0 photoshop. I also use a a white background matte poster board or a black tile that accents certain colors. From what I've been told they're relatively easy to use.

Those "professional " pictures make me wonder if the seller actually has the item on hand or if they are dropshipping from a catalogue.
Photographing your item in front of a plain background , a sheet or poster board, indicates that you did the photography yourself.
Most of my products are flat, so I scan rather than photograph, but I usually put the scanned item slightly off-kilter, which a "professional " would never do.
What you don't want to do is use a patterned background or include things in the picture that you are not selling.
YMMV

That is available with the eBay listing tool "edit", but any that I have tried it on did not come out well.
I generally use a piece of cardboard, or the green grass outside (I know, not good for all), or my concrete step/garage floor. All mediums that help to differentiate colors.

HI!
Is there a link you know of how to scan?
Thanks😊

If you have the professional version of Photoshop, you can replace/remove the background. We often do not like "how" that turns out on some pix.
I often with natural day light use a Foam Tri-Fold Presentation board (white) and have it sit atop one folded as well (all white surrounding). I take my pix without flash in natural light (have a light booth thingee, but really, it is a hassle for me) and I do edit them in photoshop - by that I mean I "crop" my images there and brighten them a little should they appear dark for some reason.

Like others, I want to them to appear crisp and focused, but my listing says you will receive the one in the picture and we want Buyers to know that also.
Good luck to you. I have several professional grade cameras, but lately, My Samsung S 22 ultra has taken really great pix (phone), so I have just been using that. Pix go straight to the cloud and laptop accesses the pix from the cloud. Pretty sweet and a great time saver. I just open them up in Photoshop, edit quickly, save and drop them into the listings.

My printer is also a scanner.
The scans show up on the desktop of my computer. Then I transfer them (the THNGVB new listing form allows drag and drop) to the listing form.
Easy peasy.
And I can use the scanner to make more detailed pictures (normally I'm using 600 dpi , but upgrade to 1200dpi for close work) and to show particularly interesting parts of the item.
Good for sewing patterns, books, and stamps. Not good for garments, figurines, or coins.

There are hundreds of software pgms that do it. I like this one:

web based & free & one of the best ones I've seen for a 1-click option.

I use photoroom as well together with my light box. Makes your photos look high quality without looking like a stock photo. Edits out the background any yellow/washed out tint and shadows without altering the way the photo looks, just makes it stand out more.
