Possible scammer?

Hello! I am usually a buyer on ebay, but I have begun to sell some of my old games so now I'm kind of getting into the selling business. Today one of my games sold, but the buyer was someone with zero feedback who just joined today. I received the payment in my Paypal account, but the name for their Paypal is different than the one used on their ebay account. The last name is the same on both, but the first names are different. I have not paid for a label or shipped the item yet and I am conflicted as to whether I should. I have read about scams concerning accounts with less than 5 feedback and I am concerned as to whether or not this is a scam or not. I have the payment so that's not an issue, but I fear that they may claim that the item was lost/broken and then try to seek a refund to get the item for free.

Again, I am new to ebay selling so I am not sure as to how I should approach this. I was going to contact them about this, but if this buyer is legitimate I don't want them to think that I'm accusing them of scamming me. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Possible scammer?

@cheus.xsploh First, welcome! Second, I see no reason for concern here. I get 0 FB buyers all the time. A lot of the time their userid is gibberish (a bunch of random letters and numbers) which means they are checking out as a guest buyer. You started with 0 FB at one point, too.

Different first name same last name - get that all the time. It's usually family members sharing an account.

Advice? Ship the item. Use tracking. Stop worrying.

If something happens down the line where an actual issue arises then come back here for advice on how to handle it.

And good luck with your new selling venture!

Scammers unfortunately are not limited to new sellers who file significantly not as described.

But you can protect yourself so they cannot claim they never received it.

First did you check in your paypal account that money was sent and it is OK to ship (not emails)

If so send it to the name and address listed on the paypal account.  Same last name could be hsband / wife.  Make sure you send with online tracking.  This should cover you with ebay that item was received.

Possible scammer?

I sometimes would have my son pay for items, although I was not a new buyer.  Our last names are the same and so is the mailing address, and I haven't had a seller contact me or him in re: the purchase.   I  guess with all the ongoing scams, it could be a concern, but I think you will be fine 🙂

As long as you ship to the address on file (I think the PP address) you will be fine and be sure to use tracking!

Best of luck selling 🙂
