I wanted to see if anyone feels this could be feedback extortion. We sell genuine BMW parts, we are a Dealership. I had someone buy a part last month. A few days after delivery I get a message for "not as described", it was not a SNAD case, simply a message. The message said he thinks the parts are counterfeit. I explain we only sell genuine BMW parts but he could return it if he would like no big deal. He says ok and sends the part back, a return case was not opened. He just sent it back. I get the part back and process the refund. The item was $25 with free shipping.
Fast forward a month later and I get this message today, along with the exchange:
"hi, item was returned and refund received.
Please consider reimbursing me for the return postage of $3.50 as I'm convinced that I received counterfeit decals. I may need to report this incident to eBay to protect other buyers."
"The emblems are 100 percent BMW factory parts we are a BMW Dealership. What you are asking is considered extortion per ebay's policy. I have reported this to protect future sellers."
"I will be doing the same and leaving you appropriate feedback. You should check on your supplier because the ones I got from another dealer are different and match my original ones."
"That is fine, BMW is the only supplier for genuine parts. We all get them from the same place. I will report this for feedback extortion."
I thought about sending a refund but that last line in his message hit a nerve. He has already accused me of selling fake parts so I know he is going to neg me anyways. So I blocked him and currently await the neg. This has been quite the month, numerous false SNADS and used parts returned. Hopefully next month is better.

First, he never mentioned feedback in his initial message, so it is not feedback extortion.
Second, a buyer is entitled to return postage in a SNAD case, so he did not ask for anything above and beyond what he could be expected in a SNAD case.
Third, you lied to the buyer when you said that his message amounted to extortion. Asking for return shipping in a SNAD case is not extortion, and neither is stating that you may report a seller to eBay for selling counterfeit items.

I did not say that he did.
But he told you the item was SNAD, and you agreed to take a return. So that effectively makes this a SNAD case.
But if it would make you happy, I suppose he could still file one.

If your ebay income is a huge monetary gain for your company then by all means invest the time to try and get it corrected if not its just a make work project that is a time waster, but helps pad the payroll hours....

DO NOT at ALL refund that buyer the shipping he choose to use. Thats what eBay returns are for, they provide the trackable label.
Its not exactly feedback extortion becuase he didnt exactly state the negative feedback. However, it does qualify under "buyer is making unreasonable demands" and should be reported.
If you provide free return shipping and he didnt use the label, he can just open a case with eBay and they will likely fund it with no impact to you. Maybe not and youll have to call. As far as the feedback goes, just call eBay. I find eBay to be the most reasonable of all platforms in regrads to customer support.
And by the way, I deal with nonsense daily. As in everyday.

He can’t file a case with eBay and get reimbursed. They don’t reimburse buyers who choose to pay out of pocket. He’s already received a full refund. He can’t file anything with eBay.

No, Ive had buyers find ways to do just that. And it was funded or denied by eBay with no impact to us. And if that doesnt work, then its a PayPal claim that wastes a few weeks, or even months, of time.

Then you didn’t issue a full refund. Because you cannot file a dispute with eBay or PayPal after receiving a full refund.

He said he's reporting it to eBay, not leaving feedback for other buyers to read. So it's not feedback extortion; buyers are allowed to say they'll report a transaction to eBay.

Since the seller accepts returns he accepts them within 30 days for any reason. Accepting this return wasn't a confession or agreement that the item was SNAD.
