I agree that using fragile stickers is for the reassurance of the buyer, not for telling the carrier to be careful, because they won't be.

When I mail something that is breakable, whether it be glass, plastic, pottery, etc. in addition to layers of bubble wrap, padding, etc., I double box it.   Always.

In my opinion the best possible outcome for a fragile sticker is that it makes no difference, the worst possible outcome is that a a handler that likes to hear things break knows which packages to drop.

My brother-in-law worked for UPS at one time.

As he was delivering cases of light bulbs, he looked down and saw a boot print on the box.

He stated he could not get out of there fast enough.

It's up to us to package our items to survive the trip.  If using a "fragile" sticker you might as well send it priority so it has less handling and less opportunity to be damaged.    But we are all just paying for the box to go from point A to pint B, not for any special care to be taken.  A package with a pack of socks inside is handled the same way as your glass vase.

Since eBay is B2B today, make any box with fragile items look professional, don't write fragile, don't use recycled boxes, don't over tape, don't over use stickers...1 or 2 is all.   Show you care about the package...I'm not saying it will arrive intact... but if the box looks like you don't really care, don't expect the handlers to care more....

Once heard it said that UPS policy was, if it has a "fragile" sticker move one step closer before throwing it🤣

Was at the auto shop when Jim the UPS guy kicked the package across the garage floor.

A bit put out, and not amused by that action, Donnie the owner said, "I hope I didn't sign for that".

Don't know/remember if there was a response.

Sorry this is happening to you.

The seller is responsible for safe delivery.  With that said packing so it arrives safely is on you.  A fragile sticker does nothing.

If your item arrived damaged this means you did not pack it securely.

Consider double boxing your fragile items.

For my fragile items I typically double box, use honeycomb protection, paper and bubble wrap.

I only ship if I feel I can throw it off my rooftop to the concrete driveway below and it will survive unscathed.

Good Luck to you!

My guess is that you're packing too poorly because I see your shipping costs seems very low for some of those glass items that I have viewed.

Fragile, glass, handle with care labels / marking in red marker do work. It is not an invitation for a USPS handler to destroy.

Just when you think you have packed something safely enough, you have to go the extra yard. Add an additional handing charge for safe packing materials / labels that you have to purchase in your listings.

You could also entertain faster shipping options over ground.

Bizarre overuse of capitalization.
Talking about "illegals."
Odd misspellings.

........ Mister President?  Is that YOU?????

I guess I'm doing everything wrong but haven't had an insurance claim in years.

I normally use red fragile stickers or write "GLASS" Fragile on all sides of the box with a black sharpie. I always double box or reinforce the box's sidewalls, top, and bottom for glass items. I also use cushioning materials that secures glassware inside the double boxes.

I steer clear of using foam peanuts or crumpled newspapers for shipping glassware since it can compress or shift during transit.  I don't want to hear anything move or shake after packaging.

Sounds more like you're doing everything RIGHT!  -Not hearing anything moving or shaking sounds like a pretty good indicator to me.  Also knowing there isn't an inch of the object within at least a couple inches of the outer wall, as a "crumple zone."

I agree with you.   While I don't typically ship out glass stuff, what I do ship out needs to not get bent.  So I put red stickers on the front and back of the package that says Please Don't Bend.

Occasionally there is the carrier that just really could care less and will bend the package.  But they really have to work for it as my packages aren't easily bent.  But it does happen, however it is rare.  One or less a year.

I'm with you, I think how we package has a lot to do with how things survive their travels.

However I have to say I was shocked a few years back to get a package I ordered that literally had tire tracks on the flat package.  Fortunately the item survived.  I shared a pic with my seller too just for giggles.

When you pack your item for shipping, you have to assume that it'll be thrown out of a third-story window onto concrete or that it'll fall out of a truck at 60 mph.

Most broken items are broken because they are not packed adequately.

Many which are not broken, could very well have broken given how they were packed.

Inexpensive used items are not worth the time to pack properly, and usually not worth listing and selling. I have sold them myself, and the cost of shipping is now too high to gamble on inferior packaging.

It is a real dilemma for those of us who own such items, they are economically a high risk if we offer them online. I recommend a flea market or yard sale.

The two boxes I've received down through the years that said 'do not crush' were both, literally, crushed.

Honestly don't think using fancy boxes, new boxes, putting stickers on them, etc. etc. makes a whit of difference. It's all in the packing, and the strength of a box comes from within.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.
