Time to rant, sorry if you're selling stuff like mad. Skip this post. I like 1,000s of other sellers are struggling to sell even 50% of what we sold maybe 2 months ago. I admit to selling 9 items!!!! on day 1 of May. But don't get too jealous, they sold to a regular buyer trying to complete a 190 card set. For all of 2.50 each item. So after ebay/paypal/post office well, not a big deal. But yes, better than squat. Since May 1-not so much. 2 UPI cases opened/closed with no payment. Oooh, strikes for them. That hurt!! Hurt me more with all the days wasted, messages, cases opened/closed, relists.
Got offer for 100 free 30 day or GTC this morning. Yeah!! But clicked "sign me up" & whoops, eBay employees busy playing cards, napping in their pods, biking the halls....not checking if the new offer is correctly worded. Most of us would be fired for this kind of screw-up. Old template, nobody there noticed so just put it out there.
OK, this isn't helping much, thought a good rant would. But hey-frozen rum/berry slushies are making this bleep not so bad! How are you dealing with poor sales, crummy seller updates & UPI cases?

Well I am dealing with it by not ordering new product. Haven't put in a single order in over a week. If it picks up I might start reordering again. If not I will keep my store until the product I have is gone. 😏

First - I signed up for SS to start in a couple of months - so I don't have to go through this every few months wondering if I'll make enough to pay the bills. Then I decided to hoe out what are low profit items and sell those at a garage sale. I moved things to other venues and have been painting my kitchen cupboards.
It's as boring as listing on Ebay these days - but when they are done - I'll actually have something to show for it! Plus with the nice weather and not worrying about a steady stream of income - I plan on doing a lot more outside once the weather breaks. Ebay or other venues will become just a hobby once more. When it's no longer enjoyable - you end up hating every minute you have to do it. I'm sick of being miserable and hitting my head against the wall trying to make things right here.
I'm luckier than a lot of people - and it's not like I haven't gone thru slowdowns before being here 20 yrs - I'm just sick of having to recreate every few weeks or months a new plan of attack because Ebay changes something and sales fall.
I love the people here and will still be around and wish everyone better sales - I just hope whatever is happening stops and things get back to a more normal pace.

The sales drop off is making me think about downing a 6 pack, but as of yet i haven't. I sell records and i also collect records,so since the sales decline i have haven't been listing near as much, now i have time to enjoy my music,i've been playing my own records for a change-cranking up some hard rock & metal. Also i have time to watch TV now,got caught on some Ancient Aliens last night

I too got my SS and now waiting a few more months to get on Medicare then after 21 years here will bow out quietly. Been a very fun ride and selling here paid off my home and I am debt free. I like auction style and I list during the week and if no sale I take the stuff to the flea market a few times a month. I too wish everyone luck. The fun for me is still in the hunt but there are other selling options now.

tunica, I may have to take Harrah's up on my constant free offers to fly over and give them money (done that once; managed to play golf while there of course) and we can compare our SS checks. All I can say is I'm glad the Other Half gets the full amount, compared to my piddly monthly deposit.
Did they close Paula Deen's restaurant? Now that was some calorie-jammed Southern cookin'.
Someone else mentioned Medicare. Be sure to keep making enough money to pay for all of the supplemental policies. Medicare, by itself, doesn't pay for doodly much. One (maybe only one) good thing about continuing to sell online and be self-employed is I can deduct health insurance premiums on my taxes.
I'm looking at piles all over - office, dining room, kitchen table, stairs, garage - of inventory purchased at auctions recently. The only reason I'm working on this stuff is to get it out of my sight; I don't hold out much hope for a sudden windfall of sales, no matter how hard and long I work at listing it all.
I sold 2 things at auction here last night; they were both from a box lot at a local auction. One I expected to do well - the reason I bought the lot - and the other was a pleasant surprise to find at the bottom of the piles o' junk. I have now paid for the entire lot and I cannot make myself work up the incentive to list the leftovers. I'm not going to paint my kitchen cabinets but I did make the nothing-to-ship Shipping Department drag everything out of the screened porch yesterday so I could hose it down and start scrubbing away.
This is what it has come to - I'd rather pick giant globs of cat hair from the screens instead of trying to sell something here.
I had every intention of stopping this operation on 1-1-19 but the winter weather was so lousy and I was stuck in the house so I kept going out of sheer boredom. If I had known this something that ebay has caused was coming, I never would have bothered and I certainly wouldn't have spent more money for inventory.
I'm starting to think there is a big master plan in the works and it has to do with Elliott. Somehow. In some way. Why else would ebay have thrown such a huge wrench into the works? It's something far bigger than switching to GTC that's causing the drop in sales.

Well, I have been wasting too much time reading on the community. Looking for clues to whether this will ever be a viable income stream or not.
I Am now sick of TV.
Have been reading a lot.
And yes, I got out in the garden.
Cant get any entusiasm going.
The things I can do besides facing up to ebay are endless.
We Probably have a third listed of what I ever kept up before.
Just ended a couple of things before time was up, didn't want to get caught by ebay fees.
I keep saying, tomorrow I'm working on ebay!!
Ive also been realizing, if I don't sell some things, I'm just hoarding.
I'm sick of the mess. Things to be photographed,
Things researched, not listed.
Not buying more, that was for sure the fun part.
Now considering for the first time just quiting. Although we must dispose of things, one way or another.
Ebay never reached the income level we hoped.
And to top it off, sold an item recently listed off & on for 4 years!! There's not enough time in my life left......
And yes, we drink, but apparently not enough!

Once I get down south - I'm definitely looking all of you folks up and we can do a weekend somewhere convenient for all of us. A little over 2 yrs and I'm out of NY. As far as Harrah's - they closed Harrah's Tunica down completely - so no Paula Dean - but we'll find something to eat I'm sure.
I listed a couple of things that ended today elsewhere and sat down and figured if I make even $5 profit on each piece of remaining inventory I have - that will spell me until SS kicks in and then some. I'm taking it early - 62 - that's how disgusted I am. As I'm doing the kitchen cabinets - I'm finding all these appliances, silverware, knife block sets ect we collect as we grow older but never seem to use - they'll all go to a garage sale. I took a peek at what the kids old collectible Star Wars glasses go for - even that isn't worth the effort so someone can get a deal and do the work.
We still have lots of collectibles to sell that I have to hoe out as well as old video games and consoles the kids left behind - but I'm liking forward to it once again being something I can do if I want to and if not - so be it. For the past 15 yrs - it's you have to list daily - you have to source and I'm just tired. Going back to being a hobby again - as it was the first 5 yrs - will be fun - provide that extra income for trips to the casino - or meet ups with you all!

I hear you:)
Sales are slow, and have been like pulling teeth for awhile for me. The clincher for me will be when ALL states implement internet sales tax! That will be beyond my pay grade to figure and submit all that! That is when the rubber meets the road and I for one am GONE....

You and tunica can come down this way and still eat at Paula Deens. I'll wait outside (lol not really a fan)
but I could take you to a better southern place (Mrs Wilkes)
But on topic... sales are sad, but I'm plugging along. Forcing myself to list as I hadn't been doing much lately. 22 new listings in the past 4 days and only 1 sale.
Please turn my rum into a Mai Tai.
