Physically posting digital codes

I've just sold a digital code. Will I still get full Seller Protection if I physically post it rather than just emailing it?

Thanks

That depends upon what you mean by "full seller protection".

You will receive seller protection against an "Item Not Received" claim if you have the proper tracking information and provide it in a timely manner, just as you would for any other package.

But if the buyer uses the code and then claims it was "Significantly Not As Described ", you will generally be forced to refund just as you would for any other item.

@zedcjay Did you follow the digital content policy? Classifieds listing?

Sure, you'll get exactly the same protection provided to all sellers.

None.  Why would eBay assume any of your risks?

No, read that too late. I posted it in a normal listing.

In that case, you have zero protection. MBG is voided for purchases in the Classifieds.

Since your listing was not in the Classifieds, and since it also violated policy being listed incorrectly you won't have a leg to stand on.

You can prevent an INR with tracking and that's about it.

My advice to you is read the eBay policies. Read seller performance requirements, the MBG, all relevant category policies, fees, and anything else. The best way to protect yourself if to inform yourself before diving in.

If you run into other questions as you're learning the ropes come back here and ask!

Edit to add: read the PayPal UA and policies, as well.

OP said 'normal listing' which is probably not a classified listing format.

My standard question is 'do/did you have permissions of the rights owner to sell this code'? Many codes cannot be transferred from one person to another by any legal means at all and you could find your self with far bigger problems than seller protection.

I see no codes (or anything else) in recent sols or completed on the ID you're posting with.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Yeah, It's a railcard code so it's transferable. I've previously only sold a hard copy voucher/code which was fine. I only thought about the protection for digital codes after selling.

Does posting it instead of emailing help at all if anything goes wrong?
