Last night at 9:20 PM I received a message from Paypal stating that there was a problem with my account, and then immediately after at 9:20 PM I got another message stating that I am permanently banned from Paypal. I called this morning and they told me that they determined that I was a security threat and that they were terminating business with me. They said they are going to hold my funds for 180 days and then they would message me telling me how to receive them.
There have been no real changes in my account, I use it for Ebay, a couple other companies pay me through it, and I pay for certain items and services through it. It has been the same since I began using the platform.
My real question is has this happened to anyone else recently?
Thank you for your time.

Any one else use your eMail???
A lot of reasons such can be done.

Scam. Change your PP password immediately! Change your eBay password immediately. Watch all other online accounts. And scan your computer.

OP stated:
" I called this morning and they told me that they determined that I was a security threat . . . "
Do you think both the email and the phone call confirming the email were scams? I'm familiar with the phishing email, but I haven't read about a phone call being involved.

Have you had any sudden increases in sales in any of your selling platforms? Paypal will absolutely freeze accounts that have a sudden sales spike, citing "security threat" as a reason. It has happened to people I know who ran sales and had a large increase in sales in a short time.
Have you changed the type of items you sell? In other words, were you once selling (this is just an example) pre-owned books and are now selling new electronics?

Well, much would hinge upon where the OP got the phone # from. As in from the message, or from an actual login on the account.

Okay, some questions:
Where did marviole get the PayPal phone number from?
Did marviole click on a "PayPal" email?
Did marviole dial PP manually themselves?
And did marviole login to PayPal, and change their password?

Have you logged into your paypal account?
Can you log in?
What does your account show?

This is all bleep. Paypal is a large company with trained employees, no employee will tell you directly you are a security threat. If your account has been restricted for security reasons it will be escalated to a department trained to deal with such issues. Paypal also doesn't send out emails to tell you that you are banned. Many sites (because of phishing) will put something up when you log in on their website.
This is a scam. Change your passwords and don't click on links in emails or phone numbers that are in emails. Revenue Canada has a scam going on where they tell people they owe money and try to strong arm them into paying. They even have a VOIP set up that will have someone with an accent answer "Revenue Canada Investigations" when you call. They have obviously become less sophisticated because now it's a machine that's telling you that you owe money and "press 1 to speak to someone". I just hang up.

I always log into my PayPal account (do not click on any links in an email) to see if there is any problem with my account. There has never been a problem with my PayPal account, just some scammer sending me an email with some reference number in the subject line about something being wrong with my account, blah, blah, blah... I delete these emails after reporting them as spam emails so hopefully they will automatically go to the spam box when received.
If you click on a link in one of those emails then that is probably when there is going to be a real problem with your PayPal account.

The OP's scammer mailed me today to tell me there's suspicious activity on my Paypal account. They provided me with a link to go and check (to steal my password), and addressed it to "dear Paypal User" (a huge red flag).
I have gotten a real warning email once. I had to confirm my identity or something like that. And it didn't give any links, it just say to go to Paypal's site and log in to see what I need to do.

I wonder too, where did you get the phone number from?
