All my payouts hit my bank in two business days it seems. Seems there is a day of processing and then it's transferred. I could swear this happens no matter how fast I ship the items but I shipped fast so I'm not 100% sure because I haven't sold a batch of stuff until starting recently. The payout is definitely not tied to confirmed delivery. It seems like it's tied to only receiving payment.
I noticed that several of my paid auctions that ended about 7PM (Pacific) at 11PM it says funds are on hold but there's no specific reason. This could be that I just never checked right after an auction as there's been no disputes or anything on my account or changes in categories I sell in, or sudden major increase in sales to trigger any sort of extended hold.
On a sidenote, I don't think it's wise from a customer service standpoint to generate label well in advance of handoff to the shipping company as you can get anxious customers that are alarmed when they check tracking to see there is no tracking information (yet).
I'm curious if you generate the shipping labels before midnight the same day as receiving payment, does that make any difference in payout time by starting the processing sooner? Or is it just because payments were received after a certain daily cutoff time for processing to begin next day instead that same day?

The process
Buyer completing checkout
Adyen processes the payment, processing is usually complete within 12 - 24 hours
Funds that have been completed processing are available for Payout
On the next scheduled payout all processed funds are included.
There is no connection at all with a label being printed or an order being marked as shipped.
Personally I print labels on the day I'm actually going to be handing off to the carrier. I have an extended handling time, mostly ship twice a week.

I generate my shipping label the day I am going to ship the item. No exceptions.
And no, there is no connection between payment date and shipping date..

I think you're absolutely right about that. I used to get the order ready and print the label as soon as I had the time after I got the order. So an order on Friday, after my post office run which is early in the morning, would get a label printed that afternoon then sit around until Monday mornings PO run. I don't remember getting any complaints but sometime along the way it came to me that this is probably not a good idea. Now I print the labels the day before shipping.

(edit) Yes, printing shipping label didn't change hold status.
