Help!! This screenshot shows my issues. I am the seller in this situation. i sold this item, through paypal, but the transaction has had an error. This account was made to sell this item, the DSLR. Prior to listing this item, i had not linked a paypal account to this eBay account. The bid session ended, and the buyer had purchased it through paypal. After the session ended, I’d realized this mistake and linked my paypal account correctly. I’ve tried contacting him, with no answer, and I don’t want to rip him off. In the linked paypal account, there is no money or history that reflects this listing. I tried to view the PayPal transaction, but I just get an error. This camera is expensive, on one hand, I dont want to ship it out because i have recieved no money. On the other, I dont want to rip him off. I hope im not just freaking out. Please Help

It looks like he sent an echeck, you’ll have to wait until it clears.

There may be a problem since you did not have a PayPal account linked to your eBay account when the buyer paid. There was nowhere for the buyer's payment to go. Have you tried contacting PayPal?

Where and how would I contact them? Is it a live customer support?

It's my understanding that PayPal does not have live chat for U.S. users; however, there are several ways to contact them:
1. They have a help center that has links to the telephone contact, the community discussion forums, and email help.
2. They have a Facebook page, so you could send them a message them via Messenger: https://www.facebook.com/PayPalUSA/?brand_redir=589464587749730
3. They have a Twitter account you can use to send a private message: https://twitter.com/AskPayPal
Good luck!

its just automated. i dont think there is an option to help me with this. This guy just needs to answer his paypal messages! If i figure out what paypal he sent the money too it’d be alright
Buyer's don't designate which PayPal account to send it to. They just use eBay's checkout like they would for any transaction. PayPal has the buyer's money--they just don't know where to credit it, since you didn't have an account linked. You have to contact them and explain the situation so they can credit the account you have linked now.

This account was made to sell this item, the DSLR. Prior to listing this item, i had not linked a paypal account to this eBay account.
So this account is basically disposable.
If you don't get paid, don't ship.
If the buyer sent an e-Check, it may not clear, so don't ship until it does.
If the e-check clears, you are required to ship, but buy your shipping label through Paypal. There may be a small discount , but more important, PP will allow you to use the Held funds* to buy the label. This is a decent way to confirm you have actually been paid.
Most Unpaid Item Disputes are from Auctions. The bidder may not have realized it was an auction, which are very uncommon on today's internet and less than 15% of eBay's listings, and wandered off when he did not immediately buy.
If this transaction fails, relist as Fixed Price/ Immediate Payment Required.
It will be visible for 30 days, with no listing fee (there is a selling fee), or until someone actually pays for it.
*You know that PP will hold cleared payments to new or occasional sellers for up to 21 days (less for US-based sellers) against their customer service, right?

You wouldn’t have a PayPal initiated payment notice if he sent money to a wrong account.

PayPal’s phone number is 1 (888) 221-1161
