Payment In Lymbo

Afternoon Folks from here in HOT, MUGGY & MUDDY Nobletucky.

I once again took advantage of a $15 off coupon through  an app purchase promo on Mrs C's account but it shows an hour glass on the payment.

I went to the paypal page and it says the following (with a few edits to remove the sellers info):

Payment - PayPal Credit

Loading transaction details for eBay $64.00

hasn't accepted yet.

It's been a couple of hours and still says the same.

Seller appears to have NOT ACCEPTED payment and has a zero feedback, memeber since MAY 26/2018 AND has sold 4 of these sets I believe today.

Not sure what is going on so decided to reach out here.

Thanks in advance!

Mr C

Payment In Lymbo

I think you can set your Paypal to not automatically accept payments or something.

I've had this happen on a rare occasion before too and found it quite bizarre. In my case, the seller was either being intentionally thick or was truly clueless because I wasn't able to work out the transaction with him and just ended up canceling the payment.

I assume you contacted the seller and he hasn't responded?

Payment In Lymbo

Afternoon Jonathan,

Well to answer your question, no I did not contact the seller yet since I thought it better to understand what might be happening before reaching out to a 0 feedback seller.

Considering all the years I have been here and also selling here and elsewhere I have only seen an "hourglass" icon beside a purchase when it was an echeck or back in the days when I was waiting for a Money Order when we could still accept alternate payments.

Seller appears to have NOT ACCEPTED payment

It means that the email address for payment that the seller has in their listing is not connected to an active PayPal account.

That's the only circumstance I know of where a recipient of a PayPal payment needs to "accept" a payment.

Here's a somewhat edited version of what I am seeing on my ebay page: Seems when I try to do a copy of the page it doesn't pick up the activity icons...on the further left icon that usually shows the $ sign it shows and hour glass...Mr C

Thank You Jimmy.

So it's possible for a seller to start selling here and have a paypal account but not have it linked...as in it sits there waiting for them to accept?

I have had situations years ago where I couldn't pay because they didn't accept PP...or that I have made a payment but it went to an erronious paypal account due to something a seller did incorrectly when putting in their PP info into the listing etc.

I presume that their other completed sales today are having the same issue then?

Zero FB seller, stock photo, no description, "free" Media Mail shipping.

Mr. C, you should know better!

Payment In Lymbo

Hi Southern,

Hangs head in shame...ah not really...ebay is FULL of drop shipping stock photo sellers now...I actually did not catch the Media Mail part since I simply chose the Free Shipping filter...so I have a chance to still cancel this over at paypal...matter of fact it gives me the option.

So having found what I was looking for...giving a new seller a chance...I am only slightly embarrassed lol...but very good points...so it never even occured it might me scam item since it is not a common purchase...

Your advice then is???

Mr C

Payment In Lymbo

Well, hello, Mr C  (YAY)

Sorry you have this problem.  It sounds like the payment is held up possibly due to being set up wrong, but it could also be that this is a hacked account or Ebay/Paypal has some reservations about the seller and they are investigating.

You may have to cancel the payment, or Ebay might remove the listing and tell you that you are not required to complete the transaction.

I had a similiar situation around Easter when I bought an item that shows the seller had not accepted payment, so my payment was just sitting there.  No response to my emails.  Pulled contact info, called and left a mesage, only to find that the listing was a GTC listing that was listed for a year.  Seller's email account was hacked so she abandoned the email address and the listing.

With a zero feedback seller, though, I don't think it is advisable to contact them, either; and I think that is a wise decision.

I went in and cancelled the payment as that is an option, and that may need to happen here.

Sadly, while it could be the seller is not set up properly and/or has a bad email address for payment, my gut thinks this is not legitimate, as Sweet Tea said, and I don't think you will be getting your knives.

Just some thoughts.

Good heavens, yes, I remember those days!  Money orders in the mail.  Things took much longer back then, didn't they.

Doesn't need to be a new seller, just need to add an email address (typo) to the listing that doesn't match their PayPal account (or anyones PayPal account).

Happens every day and yes any payments directed to that email address will just sit unclaimed. If they add the address to their PayPal profile the payment will show up in their account immediately.

Slippinjimmy is right, and that could be all it is with a new seller.  Hopefully this is all it is but if it is a hacked account or scammer, then that won't work.  Time will tell.
