Hi there, I have an odd situation. A payment dispute was opened and for reason:
”Issue with Transaction”
What does this reason mean? I have seen disputes say “item not as described or doesn’t match listing”
When I go to the dispute help page, this reason is listed alongside unrecognized transaction (which would qualify for seller protection)
Sadly, Ebay has given me different answers
1) Being it means not as described… which I asked saying in the past it would say that,
2) Its unrecognized… which again why doesnt it say that?
i am unsure what kind of evidence to provide.
Now here is where it gets odd, its a repeat buyer that has purchased from me multiple times. In fact, they would message me asking to purchase more items.
Also, I offer free 30 day returns, which the buyer never made any contact on Ebay about opening a return (which would of been accepted)
I reached out to the buyer, hoping to hear back.
Anyways, the thing I am trying to solve is what is:
”buyer had an issue with the transaction”
Is it unrecognized or saying not as described? Cause how I respond would be different…

Update buyer responded when I asked if anything was wrong:
Nothing on my end.
Maybe a scammer

And one more response from them:

Maybe whoever you're communicating with on eBay is the scammer and the actual owner of the card didn't recognize the transaction, or maybe they're just confused. Who knows. Glad eBay seems to have your back on this one!

There was 5 spots to add evidence and also a text box to write 1000 characters
The photos were of the tracking, also showing the name and address, the 30 day free shipping, the positive feedback, and the communication me and buyer had when I asked about it

The payment dispute filed against me on eBay appears to be an error. The buyer, a repeat customer, received and signed for the item (as verified by USPS tracking number REDACTED) on July 3rd, within the stated handling time. They left positive feedback for the items and never communicated any issues with the transactions, as shown in the provided photo evidence.
Furthermore, I have always offered a 30-day free return policy, yet the buyer never initiated a return. Additionally, the buyer stated they did not initiate this dispute and clarified that it was for a different item, as supported by the photos. They also confirmed the dispute is incorrect.
I kindly request a review of this case and a reversal of the dispute in light of the evidence provided. Thank you.

Correct, there are 3 buckets for payment disputes.
1. Item not received
2. Item is not as described
3. Transaction not recognized
The first and third are refuted with tracking showing delivered,
eBay put your dispute in the third because it mentions "transaction"
and you got automatic protection because your tracking shows delivered.

When I spoke to ebay they said it was item not as described:

So sorry, but the outcome was decided in your favor, automatically by bot due to the bot's pre-programmed checking on the "issue with transaction" reason, moments after you submitted your response.
Spitballing, your rep says you'll be asked for evidence such as photos, then you might need additional protections after the future outcome. So no, eBay customer service via Facebook is beginning to fail.
