Can someone please remind me what this is, and how to fix it?
I went to a friends tonight to work on some coins, and we've been using my computer to search for them online to get prices. On three occasions I was scrolling through a search where it automatically directed me to a website (which was garbage) telling me if I take a survey I can get money.
It's most annoying, and last time this happened I seemed to remember having to clear cookies and browser history.
What I'm confused about, when I back arrowed to the search on the last time it did this (by selecting the search, not just by hitting the arrow), it kept reloading the page. Also the page is specific to my friend's ISP service and knows that's how I'm connecting. This is not something that ever happened at my house.
Can anyone explain how this is happening and will it plague me when I go home? I definitely did not have malware before, and I have my setting on Firefox to not permit any redirect without authorization. But this bug seems to override that.
Thanks! C.

He's got a bug, or a virus or something on his comp...
Depending on EXACTLY what it is tells you how to deal with it.
Sometimes closing the browser down completely and clearing the cache will fix it.
Sometimes rebooting the comp fixes it.
Sometimes you have to run the cleaners and the checker things and that will clear it.
And unless you hit the same site that got that stuck on his you won't have the same issue when you get home on your comp.

Two things come to mind.......
1 - There is another tab open to a page that is running the redirect script.
2 - Firefox itself is infected with an extention or plug-in that is doing the redirect.
I haven't had #2 happen to me in many years but #1 happens when I'm surfing dodgy sites, especially ones that end in .ru

This is probably a malware running in browser.
You can try:
1. Reset browser to default through settings and then update the browser in a new version. You can even completely remove and re-install.
2. Run a scan with anti-malware software and clean it. Again re-install or update your browser after the scan finish.
3. Take your computer to a technician to remove the malware/virus.

Hi,
Thanks everyone. He probably does have a virus or something, and I got it while looking at an eBay search, but the bug was related to his ISP.
The firefox extension might be it, because the other one I get (at home) comes from my email server and tries to get me to download an updated.
There isn't a tab open that's running the redirect script, except the eBay page. I've heard in the ads can sometimes have this, but clearing the cache helps.

Guys, I am having the same problem. But the redirect happens ONLY when I am surfing on eBay. So of course there should be something wrong with ebay. I work with computer and surfing the net, I visit hundreds of websites everyday and those redirects happens only when I am in my private area in ebay ... what can be wrong so?
