Opening Starter Store Question

Hi all,

I've been thinking of starting an eBay store for quite some time, now. The Starter option says,

Free fixed price insertions: 250/mo

Free Auctions in Collectibles and Fashion: 250/mo

I'm assuming that this means 500 total free listings, with 250 auctions and 250 fixed-price? I know that it may sound like a stupid question, but it seems unclear on the wording. I'd just like to know if it's 500 total.

Thanks for the help!

Opening Starter Store Question

No, you only get 250 total free insertions. They can be used for fixed price listings in almost any category, but for auction format you can only use them in 13 specific categories.  I'm not sure what page you're looking at but I think the chart on this page is clear. The page also has a list of the auction categories.

Opening Starter Store Question

It looks like you already have a store. I assume it's a starter store. It's purely a simple numbers game on when to upgrade to the next level. You're in the right categories for the free auction listings and it looks like your number of listings, number of auctions, and number of sales put you close to justifying the next upgrade to basic. If your listings/sales increase in numbers, just get the calculator out, then upgrade when the numbers tell you to. When your existing store cost plus extra listing fees go beyond what the next level cost, upgrade.

Opening Starter Store Question

I had the same question and spent a lot of time with a few agents yesterday only to receive conflicting information once again. the information regarding opening an ebay starter store indicates 250 fixed and 250 auctions (https://www.ebay.com/sub/subscriptions) and one agent indicated that yes, with a starter store you will receive 200 free listings/mo that all sellers receive and 250 free fixed and 250 free auctions (only in Collectibles and Fashion) for a total of 700 free listings/month. Since I didn't see the free 250 auction special under my Promotional Offers section, contacted ebay again and another agent said that we would need to list one Auction in Collectibles/Fashion before the special would show. Tried to list one in this category only to see a $0.40 fee showing. Contacted ebay yet again and the next agent said that Starter Store's don't receive the Free 250 Auction special - only Basic Store and above subscriptions (https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/run-your-store/subscriptions-and-fees.html#m22_tb_a2__2). have spent nearly 4 hours trying to get clarification. have been with ebay for nearly 20 years and haven't received such a runaround as this. wish I hadn't opened a store in the first place. also, when I contacted them about when starter store fee would be charged to my account, received conflicting information again as our billing cycle starts on the 16th of the month and we were told that the subscription would begin at the full amount on the 16th and if store opened before a partial prorated amount would be applied). Opened the starter store on 11/16/20 and the store shows as billing on the 1st of the month. Sad that there are so many inconsistencies in the information provided. Now looking to close the store 😞
